version: 1.3.0
- added 3500+ more names, making a total of 5300 unique names.
- names now also included from popular Shows, Movies, Science fiction and games.

The new system is so much worse, it wants players to tunnel vision into specific roles which may be good for the average player, but for a long-timer like me it's just plain boring after the first 2 times designing the same ship and role over and over again, why you hamper players like me, why stop ...

Hey - I haven't done anything with the installer - but if you're able to self-install - I've updated to v1.4.0 - which is compatible with DW 1.0.7.1 beta.

Previous versions of this mod started failing around 1.0.6.8 or 9 - they've substantially changed the rules for the tech tree.

Sure - if you're offering - I'll check out what you have.


I used InstallForge to make the exe, you can just extract the zip and load the file "Distant Worlds 2 XL_InstallForge_01.ifp" into InstallForge, rest is simple and self explanatory.
Also, There is a Inno setup save file also "DW2-XL.iss ...

How does it know what the user's game-installation folder is? Ah - it requires the user to know.

Yeah, at some point - maybe we can pull that from the registry on Windows? Maybe one of those installers has that ability? I'm not sure how steam stores that info -- Linux users ...

Personally I don't mind doing the terraforming game. I pretty much always choose very rare colonisable planets in a very large galaxy. So I have no problem with lower quality planets. By mid-late game you have a gazillion decent colonies anyway.

Anex Realistic System Names

Around 5000+ System names that are IAU-approved Star Names and painstakingly put together from various sources and real names,
removed most of the incomprehensible, Greek, Arabic, and Scientific naming and replaced them with common names for those stars.

Also, I hate the Alpha <starname>, Beta ...

As it is right now I cannot generate a galaxy which has low number of habitable colonies but good quality. At Colony Prevalence Very abundant there are countless colonies all 60-90% quality and if I set Colony Prevalence to Very rare every habitable colonizable planet has a quality of less then 30 ...

Yes this please this , its so infuriating manually designing ships every upgrade, just give an option to auto upgrade to new components in the same path. or better give a function so that we can lock components that we do not want upgraded while the unlocked components get auto upgraded by auto refit.

The point at which ships are asking for fuel is way too high it seems to me. I'll have a fleet top off then send it to patrol an area and with only a sliver of fuel use has it wanting to refuel again. Same with that tanker it has plenty of fuel in the tanks so why is it waiting to refuel? Reduce ...

I can confirm, I have this behaviour but with escorts and over multiple playthroughs, I have set 0 escorts yet the ai keeps putting escorts in my fleets.

I can disband any fleet i want to if i can see them and select them, its quite op as any attacking fleets will warp back to reform and I can repeat this again and again, so the enemy ai can never even attack me.
