RE: Command LIVE: Commonwealth Collision is out

<t> I haven´t played CMANO for about a year, but I had to buy and play this when I saw it. Its nearly the same set up as a scenario I suggested on here previously, but with the Indians making up for a relatively weak UK. Having played it through, I would say it was worth the price, as it was fun ...

RE: How things like RCS are decided?

<t> Actually, I´ve been very consistent. I queried why the PAK-FA RCS did not match Sukhoi´s claims. User2 explained why this might be so. I can believe Saab´s claims for the frontal RCS of the Gripen in this context. It does not seem inconsistent to me, given that the Eurofighter and Rafale of the ...

RE: How things like RCS are decided?

<t> I think you may have been a bit misled by the RQ-180 - you might have noticed that it doesn´t have a picture, that´s because no one knows what it looks like (except people who can´t tell). Therefore, it probably should be noted that they are guesstimated stats. The other values seem believable ...

RE: US Military response to China’s Chain of War Attacks?

<t> I totally agree, as it seems does China. I was just about to suggest that a more humane and effective policy would be to fight a defensive war whilst interdicting China´s fuel supplies. China does not rely on these for domestic energy production, but it does for anything that requires oil, which ...

RE: US Military response to China’s Chain of War Attacks?

<t> Wow, I´m glad you guys aren´t in charge. <br/>
<br/>
Why would the US risk the nuclear annihilation of its own forces at best, and its own population at worst, just to stop China bossing Vietnam and Korea around? Japan wouldn´t let itself be bossed around for long (it would produce nukes) and ...

RE: How things like RCS are decided?

<t> Thanks for the really helpful answer. I was going to query the last thing you said, but then I realised that the game designers are basically flipping the situation. In real life, it is likely that you would know the radar band (as long as you could identify the radar and had access to the ...

How things like RCS are decided?

<t> I know the game designers don´t like (or perhaps have time) to give away their secrets, but does anyone know how things like RCS are determined? Do the designers find a figure quoted somewhere in the manufacturer´s literature and extrapolate from there? This was how I thought they did it, but ...

Sorry, just found the switch - I expected it to be asked at when I entered the scenario.

RE: The new features of Chains Of War: Cargo, amphibious and airdrop operations

I´ve just bought Chains of War, and yet I can´t find the cargo mission/function in scenario mode - is this supposed to be the case?

RE: planned adjustment to BVR game dynamics?

<t> I agree about the different bands of radars being modelled well in the game, with the very elegant solution of dividing them into two groups: L-band and below, and the rest. If the effectiveness of the L-band wing radars on the Su-35 is just a function of the above, I don´t think it would be ...

RE: planned adjustment to BVR game dynamics?

<t> Glad to hear it´s on the minds of the developers. As to how much difference it would make in the game, I think it should make a big difference in the following situations: fast vs slow aircraft (including when a cruising aircraft hasn´t detected the attacking aircraft, which would be in AB ...

planned adjustment to BVR game dynamics?

<t> Sorry if this has already been requested/discussed, but I wasn´t exactly sure of the terminology, so it was difficult to search for it. I would like to suggest that increased speed of launch aircraft=increased range for missiles launched from that aircraft. This seems to be an important factor ...

Great Pacific War?

This looks like my kind of scenario, but when I tried it with the Allies, they wouldn´t shoot at the Axis forces! 500 Kt ASMs hit my carrier group without a SAM fired. Anyone else experienced this?

RE: best official/community scenarios

<t> I also second the To Kill a Mockingbird recommendation, which I need to replay, since although I worked out how to get in range of the SR-71, I couldn´t work out how to get the Soviet high command to allow me to shoot it down! I think this kind of thing adds another, more political level to ...

RE: best official/community scenarios

<t> I would say that Miguel Merola´s scenarios are some of the best I´ve played, particularly with reference to pacing - I´ve really enjoyed other scenarios for the first half of the scenario, but then the second half has dragged on a bit, whereas in both Canary´s Cage and the Japan-Russia one the ...

RE: Stickied thread for minor database issues?

<t> I´ve just upgraded to 1.11, and today I found that Eurofighters now go more than twice as far as before! A Typhoon with Storm Shadow apparently has a radius of 440nm, but when I actually tested it it went about 950nm before having to RTB. I then tried different loadouts and found that they all ...

RE: Command Air/Naval Operations receives a stand-alone expansion!

<t> I´ve just bought NI and at the same time downloaded Command 1.11. When I installed the later i put in both the keys, but when I click on the NI scenarios it says I have tried to upload a database that does not exist and that I should update to the latest public version of Command. <br/>
