Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))

A number of reasons that make here better though. It can be indexed into search engines (Google et al) and the info is more available. I do find it's easier here to locate things. And I despise videos personally, blah blah talking heads. Here, you can seek out the piece you want to read and ignore ...

There's a bunch of discussion here as well which is a good read and more explanation. Not just this one post it links to. Maybe search the thread for "layered" to see all the other tips.

I think the idea is the lowest ...

Are you sure it isn't the Obvert vs SqzMyLemon as there is a lot of Obvert discussion there?

Re: Never Thought I'd Start Another One - tc464 (A) vs. Mike (J)

Ah, ok. I have not seen the followup one then. I will look for it one day soon. I'll post a link when I find it. Yes, the one I linked had a few conclusions but it was mostly testing. The numbers in the thread I linked quite clearly showed how much better it was. It is a good read to convince you ...

Ok, I will gladly find it, but, which AAR? Can you give the name? I too have better luck with good air group leaders. Wanting all the extra tips I can get!

Re: Never Thought I'd Start Another One - tc464 (A) vs. Mike (J)

Ah, I thought you meant 14 B17 specifically, guess you didn't say that you said aircraft and I assumed! To me, that would be fine if it were 14 B17 for 14 Nick! Yeah, not including ops losses is perfectly fine, I was just saying it is likely some more Allied aircraft were lost.

Have any commander ...

Re: Never Thought I'd Start Another One - tc464 (A) vs. Mike (J)

Over Madang, my ambush (such as it was) included 3 Zeros and 31 Nicks vs. 26 B-17Es. That's just too many bombers to really take on with so few fighters, even Nicks. The end result was a Nick and a B-17 shot down (no pilot lost!). So far, the Nick sentai has shot down 14 aircraft, had shot down ...

Re: Never Thought I'd Start Another One - tc464 (A) vs. Mike (J)

Yeah, sadly if that is the package size of the attack (all those 4e, 2e, fighters) you'd need more CAP than is feasible for sure and LRCAP is impossible. Fortunately you trimmed some in his split attack a few turns back, and some ops losses. Is night battleship bombardment feasible though at this ...

Yes they can! (And good job on the Tulagi trap. Just keep wearing him down, good points for you and his replacement rate still stinks.)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I sure wouldn't want the number to keep growing at this point, even if he's "wasting" them right now. He might move them ...

Re: Never Thought I'd Start Another One - tc464 (A) vs. Mike (J)

Any plan to deal with the 74 4e? Maybe it isn't hurting right now but might if he takes some base at some point. Really, anything you might invade within range of those would likely be rendered useless? Just curious.

Re: Japan Set-up Spreadsheet for AE

I have a question regarding Kulls Japan spreadsheet and restricted units. I see that there are a few HQ (col G) LCUs listed as "code 2", i.e., implying the LCU can switch it's own HQ with the expenditure of PP according to the spreadsheet comments. My question is why is the LCU HQ "Western Army ...

Yes!

Lowpe quit updating his AAR. :(

Canoerebel is not around to post pictures of trees. :(

Greyjoy is not around to enrich our spelling.

Re: Will AE run on Win xp?

Well I've installed it on an old PC with an entire 1536 memory. We'll see how it does, Windows XP. Just needed a place to run it. I could always make a NAS VM but didn't want to in this case.

Re: Will AE run on Win xp?

Regarding memory, this listing from Matrix under "requirements" indicates a recommended memory of 1GB.

https://www.matrixgames.com/game/war-in ... ls-edition

I presume that's not really the case then for late game with lots and lots of (Allied) units?

Re: If possible what is the best option to run WITP AE on a M Series Mac?

I'm using UTM on Mac Sonoma, M1 Mac Studio. UTM is free. I loaded Windows 11 ARM edition, uses 4GB ram only. WITPAE so far has run great on the M1 via UTM. Windows 11 Arm has it's own x86 translation built in.

RE: Low CAP vs High SWEEPS test #1

<t> The diving on the lowest group would certainly make sense to give much better results potentially, assuming it's limited to diving on a single group. That's a long dive too. The highest defending group could be sitting there moving straight ahead level and watch the planes just dive by and blast ...
