Re: TRP - Total Realism Project for War in Europe (1.6.8b Download)

It was 1.66 on this machine, I've updated here so I will see if the latest has the same issues.

Re: TRP - Total Realism Project for War in Europe (1.6.8b Download)

Is there any reason that I as the German player cannot DoW the USSR? I go onto the war map, select the USSR flag and the Declare War button is greyed out. I can declare war on every other country but the USSR. It is June 41 is there a timer preventing me from going too soon?

EiT Balkan War 1912

I generally really like this scenario. Played vs my son (he's the Ottomans). It captures the feel of so many different "fronts" and the challenges each side faced trying to manage what was a shoe string war.

The Ottomans have a lot of surface area to cover, not enough troops in the Balkans as they ...

Re: TRP - Total Realism Project for War in Europe (1.4.1 Download)

1) Changelog only shows what I changed, all ships already loose readiness when hit by a storm and storms can do damage to ships. It was a constant thing where ships were trying to avoid storms. The one time they went through the storm in the Pacific the US fleet took massive damage.

2) Their is ...

Re: TRP - Total Realism Project for War in Europe (1.4.1 Download)

Questions/Comments

1. I like the change on damage from storms for subs but why don't all vessels take Readiness damage not just subs? Actual, needs to repair type damage, from storms was exceedingly rare and mostly involved Halsey and a typhoon. It feels incongruous that my battleship can take 2 ...

Re: TRP - Total Realism Project for War in Europe (1.4.1 Download)

I'm not a fan of the naval war but that is a general issue with SC games as a whole. It isn't good, it simulates basically nothing properly and I find minimally engaging with it the best approach both for fun and actual strategy. I actually prefer the mod (which escapes me now) where you strip out ...

Between this and the videos a very interesting match with this mod.

Playing SP just to get a feel, the Soviets are really hard to knock out. One they get a lot of units. Two, I've taken Leningrad, Moscow (and everything along the road to those, Dnepro, Kyiv, and Volkhov...and Soviet morale is ...

Re: IS INVESTING IN DIPLOMACY WORTH IT?

As the Allies I find diplo worth it as they have excess MPP they can afford to burn. In particular, getting rid of Sweden hurts the Germans isnt that tough and is a nice strat bombing platform. Other than that the only places that ever seem up for grabs is Spain and Turkey. Spain is of very ...

Re: IS INVESTING IN DIPLOMACY WORTH IT?

Depends, for the Germans I would usually say no. The value of Spain is questionable in strategic terms because while those Spanish units prop up the east that is a lot of extra coastline to defend. Turkey can help but in general the Allies have the MPP to burn to counter anything.

For the Allies ...

Ship "Halo"

I am trying to figure out, on the most recent version, i am playing the USA and the CSA ships have a "halo/zone of control" around them. It is a one hex radius that my Union ships cannot enter and it isn't related to depth or anything else. I can get "adjacent" into hexes where there is an island ...

Re: Infantry Weapons Tech Discussion

I was discussing this in the mod forum. I set a 1 chit limit on all research and then reduce total research MPP for both sides by about 1/4. I’ve played now 2 games with the 1 chit limit to test vs the AI and the effect is rather good. The CSA now deploys a lot more units around the map. Is more ...

Re: Research Limit Mod

No each side has a max research points they can allocate. I lowered that figure. The logic being that I didn’t want each side to toss a chit into every technology. The effect is that the same number of technologies are being researched each turn it is just with fewer chits in total.

Re: Fort Modernization - Fort Pulaski

Since supply doesnt flow across water the Pulaski fix should be easy by making it secondary supply. I can't see a solution for the Lousisiana one.

Turn Summary Notifications

One area I tend to get a bit blind is the Diplomatic chit allocation. I know I can see it if I go into that menu but I am lazy and often don't. It would be nice if in the turn summary we got a notice like "CSA diplomatic effort with X increases" when they add a chit to a nation.

The other thing I ...

Research Limit Mod

All,

I am curious since I can only test so fast if anyone else has adjusted research limits? I updated research to only allow one chit and then reduce research points about 1/4 for each side.

After one game, the results were encouraging. My goal was to help the CSA (AI) hold out past 1862 which ...

Re: Are riverboats too powerful?

Riverine craft artillery would have an effective range of what? 1500 yards during the ACW and that could also be reduced by banks, intervening obstacles and what not. Really gunboats did little to no damage to units ashore other than forts as the artillery batteries they fielded were small compared ...

Re: Are riverboats too powerful?

Well, I would also recommend +/- such changes (although bit lower), but I'm not sure it works as You think it works :P Defence values on units influence losses of the attacker, not of the defender; increasing defence of units hurts attacking gunboats, but they do all the same damage to their ...

Re: Scout research upgrade

Scouts are pointless in the Parking Lot battles of Virginia. Just need a Cavalry riding behind your own lines (odd, eh?) to spot. Has caused me some game losses to figure this out.

Balloons in Northern Virginia work nicely for scouting.

As for the cost, this is interesting to ponder. In ...
