I have a planet where methane production is scaled up by 600%. T1 methane produces like 1k+ oil and now a single t3 methane produced enough fuel to supply my entire nation. I'd add that you need to carefully plan for wars too. A big war on a wide front with a lot of troops can choke even a good logistical network quite fast and so then, you might want to consider railroads to the front, ended with a railhead.

Yes it's an issue with planet generation. Some might consider it a feature, so that's up to you to decide.

I've been having a look at the tech tree and thinking that there are areas which really could do with a bit of a rethink.

Here's one example: I think Synthetic Fuel either needs to be less efficient in making fuel or should require Metal or some other input for production, or Methane Extraction ...

I dunno, I see Assault Marines in Warhammer 40k, and don't see why we couldn't have jump-pack Battledress thematically. I do see the reason not to have them from a games design perspective though.

zgrssd has given you the key to dealing with this issue.

Threatening to encircle them will usually cause them to fall back in short order or force them to attack you in a hasty way, reducing their numbers.

I think giving Jet Pack troops access to Battledress would stop people using standard Battledress Infantry completely, unless there was some other cost to them (like a large fuel or power operating cost, for example).

I also think Jetpack troops are underwhelming as they are. Perhaps Vic can let us ...

I think beyond playing the occasional Stratagem card the Secretary is pretty unimportant. If there's a good leader in that slot, I'd move them somewhere more useful ASAP, although bear in mind it's expensive in PP to do so.

Per only be able to play 'Unclassified' with the Oceania dlc; at the top of the screen you have 3 tabs to allow for all planets to be used.
Per the AI being easy to annex, the Hard & Extreme Difficulty settings should change your mind. :)

Another issue with autocracy is the fact that the early "call for" cards are not helpful. 50 PP is too much early on, let alone 150 PP.

What planet settings have you tested this on? I'm interested to know if you've managed to get this working outside of Siwa-like planets without lots of friendly farmers.

And the longer a planet is colonised the less metal you'll find too. In cases like these, you should aim for Metal Soil Filtration tech as soon as you can, but be aware it's expensive to get going and you'll need plenty of Power, Machines and HiTech.
