Re: My tanks are made of glass: what can I do to preserve them?

A vehicle can automatically enter defilade when it stops. The chance is based on the terrain relief value and the training level of the unit. It's visualized by the green arc, showing the direction. In AB2, if the attacker is on a much higher ground he can negate the target's defilade state ...

Re: enemy casualty in campaign

Technically, the forces can be nearly infinite. You degrade those capabilities in the local force during the battle. If the next fight is a day or so later, you may be fighting a new brigade with all its toys while the shattered one is out and refitting. The game's scope is small enough that you ...

What is up with the OPFOR in the campaign? and other realism gripes.

I am essentially playing a US combined arms company/coy combat team (1x Coy mounted in Bradley IFVs with a supporting platoon of tanks) to which some enablers have been added. The OPFOR is the Soviets. The year is 1991. I am playing on the default settings for OPFOR points and Support points.

The ...

An experiment: Can one teach officership through WiTE (no Eishen)

<r> Hello fellow Grognards. Roughly 6 months ago I launched an experiment where I would take people interested in military history and wargaming, but with little to no WiTE experience, and give them control of OKH in the 1941 Grand Campaign. I advertised here looking for an umpire, and the very ...

Looking for an Umpire (Read inside) [CLOSED]

<r> Hello fine lads and gals of the Matrix Forum!<br/>
<br/>
Today I'm offering something of a strange and experimental opportunity. I'm currently preparing a wargame, in the military sense, that uses Gary Grigsby's War in the East as an adjudication engine for moves. The idea is to gather people ...

Balanced ruleset for noobs?

<t> Hi, I am trying to get some of my friends into the game to try out multiplayer. I would probably play Soviet since I haven't tried them yet and that way it would be more "even". Long term I also really enjoy the freedom the Soviets have to customize their army.<br/>
<br/>
What ruleset would ...

To be honest the AI is unplayable on the German side as you saw by yourself. The only way you can play this game solo is as the German against the Soviet AI on challenging difficulty level.

I think these are decent results? The German casualties might be a bit high as obviously I didn't manage my blizzard optimally. Some of these will return of course. I think the Soviet casualties are where they should be.<br/>

<r> OOB.<br/>
<br/>
Overall I'm very pleased with where the OOB sits at. I maintained 3.3 mil Germans in the field throughout the blizzard and now after getting the first wave of blizzard replacements, I feel 3.6 mil is very good. I kept the Soviet OOB smaller than me in AFVs since the big pockets ...

AI Campaign Feedback

<r> Hi y'all, so I returned to WiTE after my abortive attempt a few years back, flush with new operational knowledge. My last campaign didn't do very well, but I think this one has a good chance of succeeding. This is vs the AI and it is my second game. I am looking for feedback as to where I can ...

AI, Normal difficulty. As I said this was my first game so I went pretty vanilla, all the options are default, incl historical weather.
