Comparison with War in the West

Hello,

I recently purchased this game and am interested in how its strategic bombing engine compares to that of War in the West (WitW).

If you have played both games, I would appreciate hearing about your experiences.

Maybe it could be interesting to limit the max number of Panzer Corps that could be produced to for instance 130% of what the Axis produced historically.

So my conclusion is that, 5 years after the game was released, the Eastern front part of the game is not yet fine tuned and balanced.

After playing Strategic Command, I believe that there are very good ideas driving this game, but the effort needed to complete it was above the available resources.

And it's also for the players a time consuming "effort" to play a campaign.

How is it possible that such kind of problems happen with such a mature game (5 years old)?

There are a lot of good things in this game, but finding in the middle of a campaign that some basic unit values are not correct ...

This is a very interesting point: "The fact that Axis can produce 15+ panzer corps by May 1941 set them up to be really powerful."

Producing 15+ panzer corps should be allowed and it makes the game interesting.
If doing so, then the Axis should have less U-Boats in the Atlantic and fewer planes to ...

I am looking forward to playing this game.

As a new player, my aim is to try first the Coral Sea against the AI and then the Guadalcanal campaign. I don't intend to go beyond this.

In this context, is there a big difference between the 2015 release and the upcoming beta version?

Hello,

I had in mind that in this mod there is a Barbarossa DE that strongly encourages the Axis to start Barbarossa at the historical date.

Is this correct? In my current game, it's already July 1941 and no DE appeard so far.

On either side vs AI, the North African front is tougher and this is to offset the tendency for players to send additional units then historically were present to take the initiative. Additionally it’s a bit tougher on supply for the Axis in PBEM as well.

Will the Fall Weis new release be also included in this mod or is it a comple fork?

I am looking into the attack values and I think there is certainly some wiggle room to reduce the attack values of the tactical/medium bombers early game.

Currently they are starting with hard attack values of 2.5 and 1.5 respectively and can gain 0.5 x 5 so max out at 5 and 4 respectively ...

In my current game, as a house rule, we are limiting the number of air attacks on the same hex to 3 per turn (except Malta).

Is this already implemented in this mod?

With ground attack weapons at level 1, I see the following fround attack values:
- Medium bomber: 1
- Tactical bomber: 2

Is this normal if the tech gives a +0.5 for each level?

AA unis and upgrades can be used to counter this, but still you can use for example naval planes as a decoy to trigger the AA ...
