Sounds counter-intuitive but I'm not complaining now that everything is smooth again [:)]

I found a fix by solely deactivating the video folder in dat and leaving everything (including sound) to run as normal.
From the variety of issues for others in the thread my fix might not work for everybody.

I didn't see any improvement from disabling or uninstalling nVidia GeForce Experience.
No to the power saving query.
Maybe somebody else with the same issue can come across a solution one day.

Unfortunately there's nothing positive to report from purging steam interfaces/overlays or features.

I'll attempt a debug with every possible overlay or steam feature off and get back to you with results.

I'm thinking it has to do with an issue with steam itself that interferes with the game but I'm not sure of what.<br/>
So far playing in offline mode or without steam overlay doesn't fix the bug ...
