Re: Civil war split - random or correlated to happiness?

I purchased DW:Universe a year ago looking for an exploration / resource title following the old Star Flight series. I played the intro scenario and a couple games, but it all felt arcadish in that I was just swatting at events as fast as possible, and unable to find much order or control. I just fi...

RE: windows 10 compatibility testing

<t> Big thank you to zakblood for the great configuration tips!<br/> <br/> Although Pitf and GtC mostly fall onto Windows 10, the earlier releases all took some startup properties tuning to get running. For me, TLD was the toughest. Thanks to these tips, I got all 4 early favorites running and didn't...

Matrix and Smugglers V ?

<t> Can anyone comment on the state of affairs between Matrix and developer Niels Bauer regarding the newest versions of the Smugglers series?<br/> <br/> I was considering buying Smugglers IV when research showed Smugglers V (and DLCs) were being sold elsewhere, and at a fraction of the Matrix price...

RE: Finicky Finns

<t> Thank you, but I can't take credit for the abbreviation for Western Allies. It does point out an important distinction here, particularly for the Finns- and the subtlety came as some surprise for me.<br/> <br/> It is a pleasant surprise SC is loaded with these kind of subtleties, even when it's ...

Finicky Finns

<t> In my first outing with the Allies against the V1.03 AI at default settings, the British-French intervention in Finland was successful. The Finns showed as 10% pro Wallies in the diplomatic screen. They stayed there after the fall of France, and also through Barbarossa- in spite of the Germs tak...

RE: How to garrison France?

<t> I followed your "Barbarossa - the ultimate strategy" post with much interest- thanks for providing that orientation.<br/> Britain as your strategic priority surprised me at the time; now I have a better understanding why it's necessary.<br/> <br/> I haven't played as the Allies yet, so their uni...

RE: Not Able To Operate Land Unit From Spain?

Yes- you're right: Bayonne strength = 4, and I now see the final bullet of manual section 6.3.2 Operational Movement
has "The origin, destination and all through points must have a strength of at least 5." Thank you.

Not Able To Operate Land Unit From Spain?

<t> It's 1943, Spain joined the Axis several turns ago, and it's time to react to the invasion of France. Is it expected<br/> that land units cannot operate across the Spanish frontier into non-Vichy France?<br/> <br/> A screenshot (I cannot currently upload) shows the AT unit cannot select a hex on...

RE: How to garrison France?

<t> In my first / only V1.03 game as the Germs on default settings, I had garrisoned Brest / Le Havre / Calais and was <br/> surprised when the coastal guns showed up in adjacent hexes- not the port hexes. DE 627 describes the destination <br/> hexes as "near", so perhaps that's working as advertise...

RE: U-boats not a menace

<t> I just purchased this title, did the in-game upgrade check, and got Version 1.03. The information panel is the same as that displayed in the previous post- just the 5 hide /show icons. This doesn't match the image on page 17 of the Strategic Command Manual.pdf. That one seems similar to MemoryLe...

Also not part of your description, but entertaining and informative: Alan Furst's series of early war novels (e.g. Dark Voyage).

RE: DIFFICULTY LEVELS

<t> I'm a newcomer to this series and played US Pacific, US Marines, and Morning Sun on the default level 2. I just replayed US Marines on level 3 to see what the levels changed. In all campaigns, I haven't had to do restarts or cheat codes yet. In general, conservative and economical play seem to c...

RE: unlock all missions

<t> I just finished the US Pacific campaign, proceeded to US Marines, and completed Operation Blissful & Goodtime. The Marines seemed to be granted hundreds more RPs than can be used. This changed my style of play, so I recommend:<br/> <br/> A) Op Goodtime involves the two raiding parties. These...

RE: Order of Battle gets a Pacific Pack!

<t> VPaulus is correct. My notes show I had made the purchases in question a year ago directly on Steam. My apologies for adding confusion, and my thanks for the clarifications.<br/> <br/> For those of you still on the fence, the Order of Battle series is quite enjoyable and well worth the price. Ma...

RE: Order of Battle gets a Pacific Pack!

<r> Thank you for the replies. As Wolfe points out, the Matrix keys are different, and there's a techtip describing how to generate and register the corresponding Steam keys. I'm confident the Steam interface would then recognize my installed products and offer the advertised discount for the missin...

RE: Order of Battle gets a Pacific Pack!

<t> How does this "complete your set" offer work between Matrix and Steam?<br/> <br/> I purchased 2 OOB titles from Matrix, registered SNs, and downloaded installation executables. (Those installers are nice- I can manage my own file system locations and disc rebuilds.)<br/> <br/> Your link takes us...
