GDW Assault Scenario Creation

Any way we can model something like GDW's Assault scenario creation system. For a give scenario, each side rolls a die which determines their force structure. In some cases, you may get a lot of troops, in others, hardly any. The other side doesn't know what you have so you can bluff your size or tr...

Re: Left Unsupervised Map Mod

Thanks for posting! If a Soviet Division has a frontage of 20KM, we could fit 2 such divisions on the map with Corp and Army assets to match. Sound right? I would also like to create something to replicate GDW's Assault scenario generation system and I believe I need a large map to park units away f...

Re: Maps

That looks pretty cool! I have Steel Beast which has some maps. I just look at them however so I am not sure what data they have or how it could work here. They are detailed though and I can adjust the contour lines height if that helps.

RE: Core of Heroes and Leaders mod

Wow! This is great work! Is there a way to retain the counter graphics or somehow make the units easier to see? They blend in so well, I have trouble seeing them at times.

We are almost certainly looking at the same game if that helps. It is a resigned game that we had played.

RE: Southern Storm...

A question related to Southern Storm mostly related to PBEM play.
How much variability is there in a scenario at the start?
(forces involved, arrival times, air support missions, artillery available)

If there is some variability, how much is under player control?

RE: Flashpoint Newbie

<t> a few more tips that were given to me:

check your readiness even at the start, no shame in setting them to resupply to before sending them out

keep helos in low areas out of LOS, this will help them avoid getting shot down (skeptical of this one but we will see..)
<br/...

I worked with a guy who was a tanker in the National Guard. He said 2nd Lts were constantly trying to use their compass while riding in the tank.

getting around the delay.. possible?

I thought I read somewhere that if you give your units 3 waypoints that you never expect them to actually reach, you can just adjust the waypoints each turn and they will react immediately. Is that true? Good tactics or a bit of a cheat?
