Re: Roadmap?

Currently i am not using anything. I bought the last game on Steam to use it through Proton (Steam compatibility layer built on Wine), sadly it didnt work at all, and i refunded. So i am waiting for FC:SS to be on Steam first before i try again. Steams Proton nowadays works just out of the box on 90...

Re: Roadmap?

Sounds great. I am still waiting for the Steam release with its refund policy, as i am on Linux and unsure of the games compatibility. In the long term i would be happy to see a game with a contemporary or hypothetical present day scenario on this engine, as it seems to be by far the best tool aroun...

Re: Distant Worlds 2 - Update v1.0.6.4

The game plays mostly well with the new patch, though i still get random crashes (but far fewer than before). Playing on Linux through Steam Proton, though. I cant wait to hear about your plans for further updates and DLC. Hope that this game will get support as long and as good as DW:U. It definite...

Re: Question about end game and new computer system

I played the game on a Linux machine with a AMD Ryzen 3700X and AMD RX 580 (really quite old GPU) and 32 GB RAM. With lower resolution, the game ran good in the beginning of a game and still mostly OK with a lot going on. I recently upgraded to a high-end RX 6900 XT but i would think that anything a...

Re: Should i get into this now?

In the latest beta version i also dont get crashes anymore. Performance overall seems quite good to me, even on my ancient RX 580. Game is still effectively early access, but since a few weeks in a very playable state. I enjoy it very much and would advise to get it now. It will only get better from...

Re: Help make DW2 better

I want to participate, but run the game on Linux. Anyone knows if its working through Wine or if there is an alternative program to retrieve the data that runs on Linux?

Unit experience

Dont ships get experience? Could not find anything in the game about it. It would baffle me, if such a basic feature is missing. Was it in DW:U?

Re: Distant Worlds is a Game of Logistics

Logistics always is the most deciding factor in any long-term question of strategy and tactics. No matter if its ancient Sparta vs Greece, West vs Russia today or Teekan vs Ackdarian in outer space in the far future. Logistics is king. As DW2 depicts this correctly and like no other 4x space game (n...

Suggestion: Shortcuts for "Next/prev interface subtab"

The interface is beautiful and actually quite well though out, i think. I really like the uniformly looking subtabs under colonies, diplomacy and so on. I am missing a keyboard shortcut for them, though. We should be able to use a single button to always select the next respective last tab of the cu...

Suggestion: Waypoints with modifer key

The game misses waypoint actions, or am i instead missing something? You should be able to set a movement path while holding a key down and making several rightclicks. This should also include targeted actions, like attacking an enemy or going to an opject like a planet.

RE: Flexibility of the game and editor / future plans

<t> Thanks for your reply. This sounds amazing! I am looking forward to most of this. I really think that hex-based WEGO is the best way to do tactical to operational wargames and i am happy that more games are starting to use this concept. I hope that FC:SS turns out to be a financial success so we...

Flexibility of the game and editor / future plans

<t> Hey there, <br/> <br/> i am a fan of the older games and excited for SS. The showcased improved engine and UI gave me high impressions. I've got some constructive criticism and a few questions:<br/> <br/> <br/> 1. Graphics and Sound<br/> UI, Map and counters look very good! It seems, howether, t...

RE: Workshop for the new guys - Directive 21 (D21)

<t> Hey Larry, very nice tutorial. Helped me to clear some things up. The game (and also the manual) is not that good in explaining its many feutures by itself. <br/> <br/> I have one question regarding your very first turn: why is the rail damage factor set to zero? To my knowledge, the germans had...

RE: New patch coming soon?

<t> Surely wargames should offer decisions which differ from the course history took. An offensive Finland waging a war of conquest ist just illogical, though. It is totally inconceivable that the Finland we know would have done that. The country had fought a bloody civil war two decades earlier and...

RE: Expansion -- Only $9.95 !!

<t> Good and varied procedural generation for complex game systems is not an easy thing to come up with. Also, your idea would not work that well unless the game got some kind of mechanism to permanently mark these scenarios and dont allow them to be played by people who do not own your expansion. <...

Yeah, Curtis obviously is right [:D]. Nice to know that the scope of the game still keeps expanding.
