My problems seem to have gone away, for no obvious reason. It works ok for me now.

Does this game require SSE4 instructions ? Some of the older AMD processors don't support them. My AMD II X4 940, for instance. Another game I had (No man's sky) failed for me on the same machine this game is failing ...

Just to add my voice, I seem to have exactly the same symptoms on my machine as Andriych.
