Re: Taifun (Axis) vs ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies)

Axis troops weren’t hit by the RUSSIAN WINTER . It was the first time that I experienced this in one of my games.
After capturing Turkey, Axis troops under the command of General Rommel advanced north, through the Caucasus Mountain Range, towards Grozny and Baku .
General von Manstein, after ...

Re: Taifun (Axis) vs ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies)

The Pacific portion of your game is quite interesting and very active on both sides. I do wonder ultimately if the Japanese invasion of the US is worth it? Sadly though my guess is the Pacific fighting will have very little impact on the eventual outcome of the game.

Re: Taifun (Axis) vs ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies)

Wow. Very nice invasion of North Africa. Can't imagine this game lasts much longer with the Germans already pushing into Persia. I don't see too many invasions in North Africa these days but with the heavy defense of France, it was a good move.

Re: Gamey Moves

Most of the stuff listed here isn't really that gamey. IMO, out of that whole list, I'd say farming exp is the most gamey thing. Mostly I just don't want to watch tons of air/navy bombardment of settlements every turn.

There are some things that can still be better balanced and I still stand behind ...

Re: Russian winter and USSR-US power balance

If I remember correctly, the challenge with the script is that it is open ended and doesn't necessarily trigger in a specific year but has a 75% chance per turn that the Axis are at war with the USSR and its winter season. In most games, this means it fires one of the first few winter turns in 41-42 ...

Allies surrender Sept 1941 as China is about to surrender and the Axis have crushed the USSR already approaching Moscow and Kuybyshev. The USSR probably survives 1941 but should lose all its capitals in early 1942.

Good game from wirkey.

Re: Blocking sea transit hexes is gamey

Yeah I'd agree with either an increase in Italian mobilization or moving allied ships over a hex. Some people house rule this out but would be great if the game handled it.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

@Taifun - Sounds like a good game. Nice to see a high level game go all the way to 1945. Disappointing though to again see Axis win and even without taking the USSR out. Thoughts on balance and did you make any significant mistakes?

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

New game started IIo4Tu (Axis) vs Taifun (Allies).

Standard ELO rules plus:
- No exp farming
- No Italian combat ships outside of Med before DoW
- No DoW (or back doorways) on Japan until after 12-7-1941
- No obvious gamely moves (ex. use transport garrisons as spotting fleets)

After more than 2 ...

Re: Am I a jerk or a cheater?

I think most of your issues would be resolved by finding players on the forum/discord and agreeing to some basic house rules. That is essentially what the ELO ladder here on the forum does which makes it so both players have an agreement on rules and are more committed to playing the game and not ...

Allies surrender June 1942 after Moscow is captured by the Germans. Pretty standard game with China surrendering in April 1942 and then USSR about to surrender as all their capitals had fallen. Japan had a decent Pacific opening but ...

You can look at some AARs to get a feel for it but there are less hexes in Europe compared to SC Europe.

Re: Resistance movements '44

Bonus question:
Yes, its usually worth it especially if using motor boats but you probably want to have 2 of them and rotate to heal after 2-3 turns so it isn't destroyed. The naval level and type of ship don't matter so you want to use the cheapest ship you have.

Extra bonus question:
Yeah if you ...

Great to see the rankings update! Agree with Harry that it would be good to have someone as backup.

Transports Not Showing in Enemy Moves

I'm playing a MP server game and my opponent landed Allied units in Yugoslavia once the event fired but I didn't see any of the transports move past the Italian ports in the enemy moves. I only found out once Yugo surrendered and the ports stayed Allied. Seems to be a possible bug with transports ...
