Re: Artic bounderies

Thanks for sharing.

A correction to the rest of the info from that X post: there are no ICBM siloes on the Kola Peninsula. Many of them are deployed in Siberia, which at a glance of this graphic puts their flight paths over Canada. The forward operating bases from which strategic bombers would ...

Re: Refueling Query

Thanks for the reply, DW. I've dropped the attempt to completely automate tanking; now all I want to do is partially automate it so that I can use tankers without manually micromanaging every unit in - flight. There must surely be a way to do this, but I can't find a method that works.

In this ...

Re: Drones, and their usage on destroyers and frigates

I think the ScanEagle and other light fixed wing drones are recovered with a net mounted on the helipad.

Re: A Unit's Location and Whereabouts/Satellites

Thats why the ASBMs are at their peak as a first strike weapon.

I understand that, but I was basically talking about were smaller TFs, like the ones in the video. Certainly, the Chinese (for example) wouldn't be using ASBMs on a small TF consisting of just two destroyers and two frigates, right ...

Re: Trump battleship

People have mentioned the issue of a vanity project. I wonder if the Navy is fully aware that they don't really need battleships right now, but understands there is now political support for this project, and so they just dusted off one of the CG 21 proposals, made a few cosmetic changes, and are ...

Re: A Unit's Location and Whereabouts/Satellites

You are missing the most obvious radar approach. I'm surprised it hasn't come up. Its not on or off. There are many different radar/EMCON strategies. The most obvious is air or surface picketing off-axis and away from the main fleet. This is especially useful with land-based air surveillance ...

Re: Trump battleship

We are still building Arleigh Burkes. My understanding is that the issue is with capacity more than capability.

Building one of these isn't the issue, it is building 20 of them, while building other things.

Personally, I don't think a single ship design will solve the problem. This is an industry ...

Re: A Unit's Location and Whereabouts/Satellites

I guess the point that I am trying to make is:

Let's say that 1941 is fast-forwarded to 2025. Tensions between Japan and the US have escalated, and everyone knows that war is a possibility. Ships, planes, satellites would obviously stumble upon and observe the six Japanese aircraft carriers and ...

Re: A Unit's Location and Whereabouts/Satellites

The exact location might end up being too ambiguous to get a fire control solution if the carrier and its escorts are sailing silently. Turning radars on would greatly help the enemy resolve that issue.

In a very high threat environment, if land or carried-based air cover isn't available, the SAG ...

Re: Artifacting issue

SunlitZelkova < Were you able to resolve the issue by any action ?

I was not able to. Unfortunately I was unable to test Nikel's suggestion of using no map layers except for borders-coastlines as turning off range rings did not work (the BMNG layer would get "stuck").

The flashing has since ...

Re: Question about Subs and "patrols" for them

I think this kind of thing would depend on the specific situation. Neither tactic is necessarily wrong.

If the intention is to cover distance (like say, if WWIII has just broken out and Soviet subs are scrambling from the Kola Peninsula into the Arctic Ocean) then your approach makes sense.

If the ...

Re: A Unit's Location and Whereabouts/Satellites

In playing with this simulation it is obvious that units that don't see the enemy (or its weapons) until they are almost right in front of them are at a huge disadvantage. I have tested this many times. The OODA restricts the response, and is often when it's too late to really respond. It's almost ...

Re: Artifacting issue

There are options.

Try the last version of CMO.

In the device manager, roll back to a previous version of the driver.

If it is dated 2024 and still happening, you may download another version in the link above, tick the version, 7076 dated september.

If still happens with several combinations ...

Re: Artifacting issue

There are LiveKernelEvent errors in the dxdiag file.

And they are related with a file, igdkmdn64.sys, that is part of the drivers for the Iris Xe graphic card.

Probably is the cause of your problem, even though I do not see Command.exe anywhere.

You are using the latest. Was it also happening ...

Re: Artifacting issue

My point isn't that the driver is out of date, but that the updated driver is what changed.

The issue before this one that was resolved by the driver update was several months ago. Would the driver be a likely culprit months after having been updated?

The current issue started before the ...

Yes, and updating it was the first thing I did before opening a thread here, but it hasn't resolved the issue. Last time the issue went away immediately after updating it. It also wasn't as severe (I was still able to load scenarios and use the game just fine, the map would just take several seconds ...
