Artifacting issue

While playing the game, I encountered a severe artifacting issue. It disappeared after several seconds, but then reappeared. The first time it caused the entire game to stutter (not just the simulation, the UI would not respond either) and the second time it brought it to a complete halt.

I tried ...

Re: Weapon Endgame calcs / Weapon Damage / BDO

Interesting. I wonder if I'm misremembering something from the CMANO days.

Re: Weapon Endgame calcs / Weapon Damage / BDO

If the weapon has a datalink it would presumably be possible to know if the weapon failed mid-flight, as the datalink would be severed before the target.

But mid-flight malfunctions aren't modeled in CMO. For something like a warhead malfunction, the only way to know would be BDA or, if the target ...

Re: Instant RtB - Editor

You would have to Lua it.

In the event you don't have great Lua skills, I'd think that just deleting the aircraft and then adding an identical one to the base might be an easier path to achieving the same effect. True instant RTB sounds very complex and niche.

NEW: Today, Japanese Minister of Defense Shinjiro Koizumi visited Yonaguni, the westernmost Japanese island in the Senkakus. After inspecting a JGSDF garrison, Koizumi announced that the JSDF will deploy a Type 03 Chū-SAM missile battery on the island, to “reduce the likelihood of an armed ...

Re: Should biologics/false contacts always be added in scenarios that have submarines?

For scenarios set in very recent times and with very modern equipment at least, I agree with Kushan. I find subs will often be able to correctly identify biologics in a matter of minutes, if not seconds, and always from a distance. Adding them thus doesn't really add anything to the gameplay.

When ...

Re: Pacific Fury 6 - Priorities 20/2/94

Thanks for the entertaining read.

It's interesting to see how the assets of so many different nations in Southeast Asia work together, especially considering how most of them seem far more ambivalent to cooperating in such a blanket manner vis-a-vis China today.

Re: Airport Layouts and traffic choke points

I may be missing something here but it looks like there are clearly two other access points besides the ones you marked as choke points.

But anyways, CMO does not have the capability to do such a thing "stock." You can make it do that by setting up an event with Lua whereby after the particular ...

Re: Questions about Baltic tactics

Post-1991 there were most certainly no plans to end any conflict with Russian troops in Calais. The focus of Russian defense policy switched to internal security and maintaining influence and/or control in the post-Soviet sphere, which is of course what the war with Ukraine is all about.

The ...

Re: Questions about Baltic tactics

As far as the North Sea goes, this is something that would be the domain of the Northern Fleet just as much as it would be one of the Baltic Fleet.

Because of the poor characteristics of many early ballistic missile submarines (Zulu V, Golf I, Hotel I), they were assigned to targets in Europe ...

Re: So, when can we expect formal announcement of the next DLC?

Hannibal will not be entity level engagements - no single tanks or infantry platoons running around. It'll be using aggregated units, ideally battalion levels or above although you can make them any size. When they engage one another they'll do it at that entity level. There are some exceptions ...

Re: So, when can we expect formal announcement of the next DLC?

I think a bigger limitation on the size of ground scenarios would be the way gunfire slows down the game.

But in any case, in my opinion, unless the individual units are "sized up" (i.e., using the generic company unit with 12x T-72 mount, instead of 3x platoons that have 4x T-72 mount) the largest ...

Re: Community Scenario Pack (Updated August 22, 2025)

Question: To what extent are we allowed to modify and remaster our scenarios?

One of mine dates to the CMANO days and I feel it wasn't very good. But improving it would require extensive modification to the point that it would play entirely differently. Would the updated version be denied admission ...

Re: Aircraft Damage model: is it too forgiving?

I've never seen such behavior. In my experience, usually if an aircraft does survive getting hit by a missile, it has been set on fire and then burns up a minute or so later.

I found Tcao's report about gunfire damage interesting though. I would imagine the oddities exhibited in his examples (MiG ...

Re: prioritising between Fox2 and Fox3

I think this will first depend on the doctrine weapon RTB setting. If it is set to only allow engagements with BVR weapons, it may not use the WVR missiles at all.

If it is allowed to use all types of weapons one way or another, it will probably automatically end up using all of its Fox-3 missiles ...

AAR

My strategy was to use the fast patrol boats closest to the merchants as close-in escorts and use the other one to reconnoiter the coast. I also launched 1 UAV. I had the frigate set course to rendezvous with the merchants but didn't expect it to do much for a while. Right off the bat, one ...

Re: Question about amphibious landings

Interesting. It used to be if you landed troops in "water" terrain that they were STUCK. They must have changed the speed modifier on that kind of terrain.

I went backed and looked at the scenario I made and it turns out I had effects of terrain type turned off.

However, I then ran a test with ...
