First Impressions

I know little about the war outside of (don't tar and feather me) Panzer Corps. I only briefly touched on WITP:AE, although I played WITE1 very extensively.

My first impression is that the manual is impenetrable. For someone not as familiar with the engine, supposedly written from scratch ...

Re: Beginners guide

Honestly, I appreciate anyone trying to deliver tutorial content at this early stage in the game.

I haven't played WITP:AE so I feel a bit behind on even the basics so seing him just dive in and create task forces and play with aircraft etc, was super helpful. I was fairly disappointed ...

Re: Quick Questions Thread

Hi all, I played WitE1 quite heavily during the covid years, when Telemecus & co. were still around. How is the state of WitE2 right now as well as major +/-s vs. the original? Thanks and cheers.

Edit: Particular questions I'm interested in: is the combat formula more meaningful? Do support units ...

Yes, I have ceaselessly written about this in the forums. Given their current price point, stats, and defensive buffs against attackers, and perfect surprise attack bug, there is no reason not to spam them.

This is very odd. You said you complained a lot about a problem that you are creating ...

Re: What is the point of patrol groups?

They don't consume much oil.

@ Remington700 is using them for "low cost" naval resupply. I think this is a good idea.

Other than that, no idea.

This is a good idea until someone runs in a stack of 6 BB and runs it out, since ...

Re: First thing to build as the US?

That suggests that subs are too overpowered against surface warships, especially capital ships like CVs. Very few capital warships were sunk by subs in both the European and Pacific theaters. I have seen instances where a mass of subs have sunk and damaged several CVs and BBs, in a single round of ...

Re: Strength of DEI

@ sveint with whom I am playing, as Japanese, made me laugh. He send me this message in game:

Well you are burning oil all over the place. You don't NEED to blockade all those islands, nor use air in China, etc etc

But, he is completely right. I am sending ALL my ships outside on turn one. I ...

Re: First thing to build as the US?

Hadros built UK heavy armor which I think I will steal for the future. US carriers are a trap, IMHO. Once you destroy the IJN your only need for a navy is to blockade. You can meet this goal more easily and lopsidedly with air power rather than naval. Subs are much cheaper to do the same job as well ...

Re: Strength of DEI

Something else that could work is to have this unit not garrisoned at game start. This way, due to port blockade, the Allies player won't be able to change it. It will be much easier to destroy it under heavy rain.

Also @ eskuche , do you have an opening move of yourself to succeed to unlock Cape ...

Disappearing production. This screen doesn't make sense. Where did my other production go? My only guess is that one of the upgrade/repair modes ignores the limits.

Re: Strength of DEI

Just to add on here, I am so tired of going through the turns 1-3 slog when games can be decided by oil on turn 4-6. ~10 games in the past week.

Undo bug

Undoing a city overrun (displacing navy/planes) actually undoes the two-moves-ago action.

Well color me corrected. This must've changed silently in a patch at some point.

Re: My Mitsubishi A6M "Zero" fighters are doing nothing

CVS don’t have a fighter type unit loaded on them. Don’t try to think logically or as in real life. The units will do what the manual says they’re programmed to do. CVS do not give mission support ever.

Re: How to break a blockade?

Not quite. The net ship number needs to be less than 3. So if three ships are blocking you need one blockade runner (doesn’t need to be raider mode)

Re: Port blockade rule

As for subs. If the cost effectiveness is too good for subs then I can add this rule. Which by coincidence I was thinking about last week when you posted the "surprise" bug and I think you commented on the cost ratio.

What I thought of is that if a sub makes a surprise attack it gets the full ...

Re: Port blockade rule

A couple things. The Allies don't have the oil to keep them at sea
You can blow the fleet up.

You have a ton of ships back home.

If it becomes that large of a problem I can move the Japanese oilers to the 3rd turn. Pretty much when the PH strike force is supposed to move to Truk. Now they can ...

Re: Port blockade rule

While we're here, I still think subs are way too hard to sink and are ahistorically strong as blockade runners tonnage-wise.

But at least now subs are doing port interdiction only. Did you try with planes vs subs? It usually works well.

Have not had good experience. I've maybe sunk two sub ...

Re: Port blockade rule

It is strong, and it is why I suggested much earlier that blockade rules be changed to 5/3.

I certainly miss this. This is a fleet ratio, correct?

Sorry, I mean 5 ships for normal ports, 3 for small island. In light of the above-mentioned nerfs, maybe something like 3 for large and 2 for ...

Re: Port blockade rule

Yes, this is based on our game. After Pearl Harbor, part of the Kido Butai was in Kwajalein for resupply. Well no, one US DD group was there to prevent resupply.

Then, on the next turn, I went to Truk . And, once again, another (or the same) US DD group was there to prevent resupply.

I have to ...
