Excited for this. I enjoy when smaller powers get the spotlight. Usually more mentally interesting than clubbing seals.

Re: Sea of Japan Crisis - Standing Fast, 1985 -- new beta for testing

The PS-1 has a dipping sonar but is unable to deploy it, bug? Screenshot at loiter speed and minimum altitude. Perhaps this amphibian AC should not have a dipping sonar.

So I think this is a sim limitation at present due to how amphibious aircraft work. The PS-1 did have the dipping ...

Re: CMO v1.09 Public Beta - Build 1776

It may be a good time to revisit the effectiveness of Chinese, Russian and Iranian radar and SAM capability in a modern electronic battlefield— I’m not trying to start any controversy, it just appears there needs to be some adjustments in effectiveness.

I think some of these issues could be ...

Re: Issue Shooting at Supersonic Targets

To paraphrase Dr. Alex Clarke (check out his YouTube). We've spent decades building missile systems that protect you and the thing right behind you. The Red Sea actions have shown that we haven't done so well building missile systems that protect that thing over there.

I my experience yes. I usually limit strikes to identified A/C on the ground, facilities to park aircraft undercover, access points, and when specific munitions are available, runways.

Re: Ship's Offensive ECM Button

This is exactly what it is supposed to do. Obscure you exact location and require the enemy to get much closer to burn through and resolve ambiguity, hopefully bringing them inside your WEZ before they can and be destroyed.

I needed to be more precise. I knew that the exact location would not ...

Re: Ship's Offensive ECM Button

What was a little surprising in my tests was that the presence of the OECM jammer did yield a direction, but not a precise location of the OECM ship. It merely indicated a jammer was present along this axis. It wasn't until they got closer that it was more defined. Of course, the detecting unit ...

Re: Ship's Offensive ECM Button

The question remains, however, in real life when would a ship activate its DECM pod? Does it only activate that when it is under attack? That is how it is handled in CMO. Or, is a DECM ever activated without the enemy being seen?

Additionally, the same question needs to be asked of the OECM pod ...

Re: Ship's Offensive ECM Button

It is said in the manual that OECM does not affect to the calculations like DECM.

So, I would gather that (at the present time) OECM really does nothing at all to affect the calculations, and if a missile has been fired at you, then it's already too late for OECM to be of any benefit at all ...

Re: Range ring for long range nuclear weapons

If the unit is not directly visible the range rings will disappear and for many long range weapons the range will go to the opposite side of the earth from the unit and so will disappear once the unit passes from direct LOS.

Re: Should biologics/false contacts always be added in scenarios that have submarines?

I think historical events in the Falklands show biological and false contacts as valid scenario elements, especially for scenarios set in past decades. The RN expended prodigious amounts of ASW ordnance on not-actual-submarines.

Re: Questions Regarding LRDR, SBX-1 and GBI's

I had thought GBIs weren't designed for ICBM interception, but IRBM and the like.

Wiki entry cites designed for ICBM intercept as well as test interceptions.

Now THAAD is designed specifically for short, medium, and intermediate ...

While there's always room for improvement, I'm sure the devs have modeled this feature based off of real data and input from subject matter experts. Hopefully they can shed some light for the edification of users based on your query.
