The rule I follow after losing ALOT of troops, is how many troops you think you'll need, bring double.

Is this even a problem? Some colonies are going to have more reliable supply of specific luxury resources over others just for the fact of their location. Is it reasonable to expect close to perfect equal resource distribution throughout an entire galaxy? Probably also makes colonising marginal ...

Ah this is excellent thank you, my only REAL issue with the current implementation of the espionage system is tech stealing. Looking forward to starting a new game with trading and stealing turned off.

Removing asteroids around planets is something you can mod yourself rather easily in Orbtypes.xml. SPACE AGE will have those removed and only have asteroid belts (or isolated abstractions of the whole belt anyway).

Okay started anew game with 1.0.2.0
AND MY MOD

Oh I should have used a higher counterespionage buff ...

I AM STILL STEALING TECH LIKE CRAZY , from around 50 tries, I am only being caught around 5 times ...
and my mod is enabled !!!!!!!!!!!! so all have 10% higher counterespionage ...

Just bin the tech trading totally, and instead have a series of research agreements similar to trade agreements. Each one brings you a research bonus amount equal to a % of the other empires research income. Spread it out over maybe 5 or so levels and you have an actual reason to develop good ...

On starts more difficult than regular, your opening move should be to nationalize the scavenging asset over the truck depot. This will give you a much needed metal boost and let you sell the rare metals to keep your cash flow somewhat fluid.
