I will have to give this a try.

I'm not using the beta, but am nearing the end of my current WitE2 campaign. I will start another campaign when this becomes official. Greatly appreciate the continued support.

Re: New v1.04.07 Public Beta Now Available!

A suggestion: make it where one can see the size of a depot in a hex BEFORE building a depot.
The amount of damage to the railyard is available before building a depot, but not its size.

OR! If one can already determine this, please tell me how.

EDIT: And yes! Thanks for the continued work on this ...

Re: German 71st ID Withdrawal

It not engaging in combat in the west (in 41&42?! Of course not!) is a good reason to simply leave it "on MAP."
I am simply obsessed with this game (ask my better half!) and saw that minor discrepancy.

EDIT: And I'll make sure to post anything similar in the Tech section of the forum.

German 71st ID Withdrawal

A minor thing perhaps.
The game shows the German 71st ID withdrawing to WE on turn 96; it actually leaves the MAP earlier than that for several months, returning in mid-42 as part of the LI Corps.

Change Bf 110 mission to escort Ju 52s for Air drop

For those unaware of this, during the Movement Phase you can change the mission of Bf 110s from "Bomber" to "Fighter" (and change the loadout too of course) and they will be available for escorting Ju 52s for air drop missions (F9). Assuming they still have miles available to reach the target.

I've been waiting for the beta to become the official version to start another 41 campaign.
In my 56 years of wargaming, I've found none finer than WitE2.
A sincere thank you to all responsible for this masterpiece gaming experience.

Re: Ways to make Air Support more effective/worth supply

1. So bombing factories is a waste? I have done it in my other WITE2 games and done it in my current game. Granted the AA over Moscow and Leningrad is beyond "ridiculous" on losses and maybe that is what you are referencing? Or you are saying it is just plain useless?

No, I'm saying the ...

Re: Ways to make Air Support more effective/worth supply

I enjoy the air portion of the game, and find it most useful. While GS is the best use of air units, there are other useful missions as well. One thing I do not ever do is send level bombers unescorted on bombing missions. I also manually (all air groups are placed in "HOLD" position) move my air ...

Re: How to defend railyards

FYI, here's the hex-coordinate of the actual bases used by Bf 109,110, and Ju 87 Gruppe's in '41.
Actually, not a good idea to follow this to the letter (supply problems!), but it does give one an idea of how often they moved to remain close to the front.

Re: New 1.04.00 Public Beta Now Available!

Regarding motorization of infantry units.

However possible, the 290th Infantry Division of AGN's LVI Mot Kps easily doubled the advances of any other Inf Div in AGN, reaching the Daugavpils/Dunaburg area along with the other LVI units. So, I motorize it for Turn 1 only, and do not motorize any ...

Sounds good! Looking forward to the reduced Combat Delay.
I also think freight being destroyed with air raids is a great improvement as well.

Re: AI Air Assist and getting AOG's to advance

Another possibility is to move these units to the bases they were actually moved to on the dates they moved there.
Admittedly, it may require a turn or two before the base is supplied. This will require the AOG's to be on "Hold" of course.

I did not add the level bombers.

And some bases I simply ...

Railway Bombing of One Hex

19 recon planes flying 3 mission over two days, with 35 He-111s bombing said hex on those two day, leads to 45 interdiction points and Soviet rail usage of 25972. Nice results, but unescorted, I did lose 14 bombers. Still, it shows what's possible using recon and bombing against one rail hex ...

German Air Bases Hex Locations 1941

This is (to the best I can discern) the hex locations of these German air units during 1941. Obviously, you must put these all on hold stance to use this (assuming you use Air Assist as I do). I did not map this out for the recon or transport units (I leave transport units on "Flexible" and move ...

Re: Provide SS-Wiking with MP on Turn 1

I saw the Wiking division's position on the map on 1 July (and thought I'd made a discovery!), but the division not moving until 29 June explains it having zero movement points in the game on turn 1. Thanks for the reply.

Unless the double lines around "SS-W" indicates future movement. If that's the case, then zero movement points on Turn 1 may be correct.

Provide SS-Wiking with MP on Turn 1

This map from lexikon-der-wehrmacht shows SS_Wiking just east of Lvov on 1 July. Yet, the division has zero movement points on turn 1. I'd suggest changing that so the unit has MP on turn 1.
