Re: Designing armored units (Regiment size)

To some extent it comes down to philosophy: Just how much of a combat unit do you model?

Some purists say you should only model the elements that were in the front lines with weapons pointing at the enemy. For example, if a division consists of, say, 10,000 men, only about 2 to 3 thousand of them ...

Re: Designing armored units (Regiment size)

Well, inflict losses, yes, it is difficult due to their armored nature, but it's actually easier to push out a pure armour unit than an infantry unit due to the lower defense strength. That's why in France 1944, with the armored units having infantry with them they are an absolute hell to push out ...

Designing armored units (Regiment size)

Hello!

I have a simple question this time. Armored battalions are quite easy to design in game, most often being between 36 and 45 tanks and that's it. But what about Regiments?

Recently I watched this video about US Armored Divisions in WW2- https://youtu.be/qX3-oehjkvw

It breaks down the ...

Even though the cavalry does not have the transport flag it is evidently hard coded into the game. Have to keep an eye on that and some scout vehicles also.

RE: How to best design units on various scales & Various equipment questions...

<r> <QUOTE><s>[quote]</s>Likely these are not part of the battalions, but rather units which are separate from an organisation standpoint. Typically, the elements of a machine gun or anti-tank battalion would be parcelled out amongst the line infantry, so designers may prefer to distribute their ...

How to best design units on various scales & Various equipment questions...

<t> As I've been toying with the editor, I'd like to get your opinions on how to build various units and what equipment an average WW2 unit should have? Looking at different scenarios it differs from one to another, so I'd like to know if there's one universal template I could stick to? <br/>

A big part of running a "good" tournament would be the selection of the scenario to play. I'm pretty sure that about 10 turns is the most we're going to get from the typical wargammer because of real life issues, ill health, snowstorms ...

Those figures don't surprise me. My experience of playing randoms in TOAW is that people don't like losing- not at all. You can more or less guarantee that if things are going well you're going to stop getting turns back.<br/>

A TOAW Forum tournament?

<t> So I know this game is very old and doesn't really have that many players, but even despite that there is still traffic in the forums and in terms of PBEM games, and even in the only lobby you can sometimes find games to play. <br/>

On Replacements increase/decrease

<r> Can someone explain to me how increasing/decreasing of replacements works? <br/>

I know that there is a stockpile of equipment that is on hand that can be handed out to units, and it comes at a certain rate per turn, so if replacements get decreased or increased by event, does that mean ...

About looping events and recapturing hexes...

<t> Hi, it's me again with another question on scenario making:<br/>

I guess I could say it's mostly a question towards Bob Cross, since it pertains to something I'm seeing mostly in his scenarios. That thing being the looping events and making chains. <br/>

<t> I have already done all those steps, I used the guide that Bob wrote and that's in the manuals folder. It states there that the allowed resolution is 295x298. <br/>
