Re: Additional events to the event log

+1
It would be really great to have notifications about both troops finished loading/unloading and units completed their orders. Having duplicate messages for each unit in a formation is a tiny annoyance compared to the current mental burden of keeping track of each unit myself.

Re: What is the effective range?

I see. A bit too simplistic, but at least easily predictable algorithm. Thanks for the explanation!

A kind of related question: What does the slow rate of fire do? Does it further reduce engagement range and holds fire against too distant or too armored targets? Does it increase accuracy or chance ...

What is the effective range?

What is the effective range option in SOP? I presume it is an engagement range that is somewhat lower than the maximum range of a weapon, but I have no clue how much it is lower and what it is affected by. Is it some hardcoded range for a weapon? Is it a range where accuracy of a weapon is above ...

Re: Add a tool to help with preparing battle plans

the game enigine is not able to support the idea

It's a lame excuse. The programmers routinely have to implement features that were never supposed to be implementable with the initial architecture. It's a matter of priorities and business needs. As users, we can try and bump the priority of ...

Re: Add a tool to help with preparing battle plans

Just wanted to bump the thread. Miss the feature sooo much. Even if the map drawing tool were as simplistic as in Armored Brigade (https://imgur.com/JTfAYBS), it would still be of HUGE value.

RE: Political aid truck card (unit feat) question

<t> Thanks for your replies guys. It looks like I am the only one who feels vicarious embarrassment when looking at feats like political aid truck, champion, musical band and many others. But that's not a big issue. As I said earlier, fortunately it's possible to mostly ignore them during the game ...

RE: Political aid truck card (unit feat) question

Why would soldiers need a "political aid truck", though...

Honestly, the unit feats are one of the most ridiculous parts of the game. Almost every feat looks like a mockery designed specifically to ridicule the game. Fortunately, it's easy to ignore the feats almost completely.

Nothing will be released until both features and fixes are finished.

No doubt, the new features will initially contain bugs as well. With such approach, there's no hope the new features will become bug-free in my lifetime...

RE: So, when is the new patch coming out?

In order to use Unity as your "base" engine you'd need to bone up on Unity and also pay a fee (which I think Al does - Warplan), its not cheap.

I believe Unity is free for non-commercial projects.

RE: So, when is the new patch coming out?

<t> Discussion in this thread kind of implies that there are plenty of programmers willing to volunteer and write code for TOAW. If this is indeed the case, why stay fixated on TOAW and its copyright legacy? Why don't we just cooperate and create an open-source operational game similar to TOAW from ...

RE: Does ATG simulate WWI or WWII?

I think I should take a closer look at GD1938, it looks pretty interesting. Though, it seems to have the same crippling +10AP movement penalty for newly conquered hexes. Do you know if this penalty can be reduced in editor?

<t> Thanks for your replies! Indeed, AI is not very clever, so it's possible to encircle it even with foot infantry only.
