IIRC these are chosen & then locked in at game start. So there is nothing you can do with the scripts after you started your scen.
The game will pick one of those it uses 'at random'.

I guess at this point it is no longer about force preservation, just about hurting the Allies whichever way and at whatever cost.

On engines, yes, I built it to 30, and they have been advancing, okay? It is 2024. the UX design progressed past the point where one solution fits all and where every user has to accept the same solution. Just make it a darn setting & everyone will be happy... OTOH if a silly little confirmation dialog is the thing that is the most wrong with the game then I think ...

I know most people would want a 100% product out of the box. IMO stuff that can be modded, meaning 'stats' or map properties/bases can be done by modders & you do not need to focus on that. The game mechanics/code stuff what modders cannot affect is what should matter. If you do not have the cap...

I would not. 26a has really (I mean really) old scripts that are also written for a different map with different bases etc.

I think the chance is high that the AI would just break & go braindead on you, notwithstanding that you would have map issues (TF's getting stuck or going through dry land).

I have followed my own advice - CV was unable to get replacements for Vals, but it was OK for Zeros & Kates. Hopped off the Vals onto the same base where the CV TF was & voila - replacements were available. That clearly shows the replacement rules are different for LBA vs Carrier based. Now ...

The supply limit for direct replacement is 10k, not 20. 20k + airbase size is for upgrades. Where the did 10K come from, it's wrong! Now it is on the map so it is what it is. We decided to use them as a training squadron, or he can downgrade it to a more timeline-appropriate airframe & use it that way.
