Re: How to queue ship orders?

What if your construction ship is destroyed? All it's queued construction missions are lost.

So what? You ordered and an unexpected event happened. (...) I've never seen anybody complain that their destroyed units forgot their orders. (...)

Re: How to queue ship orders?

I hope this is mostly me not understanding the interface, but I'm worried this is instead me not understanding how Code Force expects me to play the game. Sadly, reading over this thread -- my first Google hit for "Distant Worlds 2 queue orders" -- implies the latter.
What if your construction ...

Re: Nuclear War Simulator - Out 02/02/2023

I don't want to damage your business, but FYI, this is not the "first ever simulation of large-scale nuclear conflicts" (as stated in the video). DEFCON was released in 2006 and did just that, though inspired from cold war and revolving around the five DEFCON states of alert of the USA regarding ...

Re: Fleet Attack Issues - Low Value Targets, Superfluous Assignment

Suggestion: implement something to deal with advisors suggesting to kill flies with bazookas. Like first time, a warning, second time, a detox cure (potentially removing a drunk trait), third time, a war council. Plenty of ideas to have fun, just ask.

Re: Fleet Attack Issues - Low Value Targets, Superfluous Assignment

AFAICT, for every games I played since release, it's frequent that fleets suggest to attack lone ennemy freigthers, not only mining stations. In fact, I'm always on "suggest" in military policies, so I can hardly miss the wish... which I always decline, of course. No way an entire fleet wastes time ...

Re: [UI] Your first script versus the English Alphabet

Do you realise the initial discussion was talking about the result of the sort, right, and not the algorithm used to effect that sort?

Do you realise that I did not talk about any specific algorithm and that YOU did? I realised that you proposed a solution:

Re: [UI] Your first script versus the English Alphabet

This is primarily feedback for the devs.

Expecting users to compensate for sloppy programming practice is unrealistic and lazy. It's simple to sort alphabetically instead of by ASCII.

Before talking about "sloppy" or "lazy" programming, one should consider what making games is all about. There ...

Re: Retrofit path woes in new betas

I also thought that if you had an existing design with the upgrade path set to none and then you chose to use the "Upgrade" button with it, it would link the two designs without you having to go back and set it manually.

Halas, this does not work in this case in 1.1.0.0. Before that version ...

Re: Retrofit path woes in new betas

Yes, the 1.1.0.0 is of course more than welcome, but there is still this limited hull and/or role thing.

All of this could be resolved quite easily by upgrading to the most recent design with a prefix string given by user, then up to the engine to use appropriate regex to search for, based on that ...

Re: Ambassador bonuses

In general, most bonuses I see in this game suffer from a serious lack of description. Nothing in the manual (believe me, I've read it all, only planet defenses in troop combat window stuff are explained in this regard, even though it's still a bit obscure sometimes), nothing more in the ...

Spaceport Build and Repair Speed

Hi,

Now there's this thing that I wonder since months. As an example in my current game, I have 2 spaceports, both of the exact same design. Their base build speed & repair speed are respectively 4.00/sec and 12.00/sec due to their Construction Yard (v2).

Fine. Looking at these stats in the popups ...

Re: Scott's Guide to DW2 available to download (version 2.9)

Just a remark about your chart on page 52:

In game (1.0.8.0), all torpedos weapons have a shield bypass of -40%, but the chart says -25% into the torpedos "Dmg. vs Shields" row. AFAIU, this should be -40%, right?

Well... after update to 1.0.8.0:

Never played Elite:Dangerous, but I'd guess they also zoom in the bodies while being far away.

Precisely not. I'm quite aware of the dimensions involved, so I'm a bit picky about this. To put it simply, until you're close enough, planets and moons in the system just look like stars in the ...
