Sounds like something that would need Harmony coding for… which to my knowledge we don’t have sufficient documentation for yet. Awesome mod idea, and might even be possible with Harmony, but I’m not sure anyone knows *how* yet.

You can find him pretty easily on the official discord. The link to the server is on the steam news page. The modloader dev's username is ̑🅠 which I'm not sure how you're supposed to pronounce, or type without copy/pasting it. But he hangs out on the modding channel of the discord a lot.

Are the devs aware that black holes don’t actually suck things into them? That as long as you don’t progress past the event horizon, they act exactly as anything else with the same mass does… you can orbit a black hole outside the event horizon just fine, and escape from said orbit with no more ...

Yeah, the single quote at the beginning of a line indicates a comment. They are ignored. Not sure why this was the marker they chose for comments, and I'm pretty sure quote marks are still allowed in star names. Actually... I should test that.

I like the realistic system name mod, except it has a bit too many repeated greek letters for my taste. I know it's realistic, just not my preference. It wouldn't be a lot of use to you, particularly, since this is for the purpose of getting rid of all the XML except the bits I wanted.

This regex matches everything except the lines containing the <ShipHullId> or the <RaceId>. I use this to delete everything ...

It's just your mod in ModLoader format. Well, more specifically, it's just the ship swapping, I couldn't find your bugfix edit in the file so that's not included. It's more convenient in that it can be combined with other mods that also alter the hulls file, and also won't vanish when the devs ...

Figured out an overly complicated regex to do it. Here we go! This requires the ModLoader, and should theoretically work on any version of the game.

A recent update modified and overwrote this... and enough changes were made that this mod is no longer compatible. Need to convert this to YML... I started working on it, but there's SO MANY ENTRIES. I need to think of a way to automate the conversion.

To my understanding, mods shouldn't effect save games at all... at least, editing the xml files doesn't, and you have to start a new game with any xml editing to see changes. But maybe the modloader does effect save games, and that crashes/corrupts them?

Here's a modloader compatible version of the changes listed above by Intaka. If you have modloader and the modpack, you can just unzip this file into the "Pack" folder under the modpack.

(I'd upload it unzipped, but the forum doesn't allow unzipped uploads)

I'd love to convert the mods I'm using right now into this format so they won't get overwritten if the dev updates those files, and also for organizational and better distribution purposes.

For example: I'm replacing the human character names ( see other thread ). If I wanted to convert it to yml ...

Did you already report the bug? You could link this thread in the bug report to help the dev. The dev might not be checking this forum until he finishes the crash/performance reports, but this would be low hanging fruit to throw into the next patch...

Looks like 1.0.2.4 didn't touch Races.xml, so we should be good to go. If you want to be doubly sure, you can make this mod yourself by opening Races.xml, doing a search for <Type>CounterEspionage</Type> and then putting in 0.10 or 0.20 as appropriate. (If it's currently 0, set to 0.10. If it's ...

Along these lines, here's a list of the top 1000 first and last names from the US. No real reason to stick to small numbers of names, after all. I haven't gone over the list with anything resembling a fine toothed comb (just copy/pasted 'em from a list and did a replace function to add the xml tags ...
