What is going on with the turret graphics?

I noticed that a lot of the turret graphics have been changed since the last time I played, with old ones being removed/changed and new ones added. But unless I missed it this change wasn't in the change log?

Maybe it was just familiarity but I did quite like some of the turrets that have now ...

Re: Please remove AI BB and BC templates under 30k tons.

Yeah it's an issue. I'm not sure what logic the AI uses to pick the templates it builds from but I think it might just be random?

One way to fix the under built post 1920s capital ships could be to have the AI look at the largest player built ship and try to pick their battleship templates to be no ...

Re: At wits end with logistics

A bit hard to identify the issue just from screen shots but it looks like you've run out of logistics capacity for whatever reason. Probably just moving more stuff around than your existing logistics assets can handle. The thing to do in that case is to upgrade the assets where the bottlenecks view ...

Re: Republica DLC concerns

Yeah I'm not quite sure what we're in for. I think there's always a risk with internal politics systems in games that they end up being more annoying than they are fun, but Vic's a good designer so I'm optimistic.

I will say I love the fantasy of being able to hook up my government to a Syndic ...

Re: Nuclear War - surviving and Recovering

I don't think there is any viable defence against ICBM attack.
Bunkerization and anti-radiation infrastructure can help mitigate the effects of a nuclear strike but they can't nullify the impact. Further, they only defend the local hex so every major city and every important logistics node needs ...

Re: Cannot kill 1xSquid - Constant retreat

Making a separate battlegroup for every single coastal hex anywhere near anything important is way too much busy work. I've found planes to be decent at dealing with sea beasts, although I think that's a case of your mileage may vary depending on how tough the critters are and how good the planet is ...

An option for no ICBMs

I know this, or something like it, has been suggested elsewhere before but I just had my first experience being hit by ICBMs without being able to do anything about it, (on round 167 of a slow development game from a smaller empire I had been ignoring as unimportant no less!), and it was not a fun ...

AI research speed on slow development

Is there something up with AI research speed on slow development games? On Hard the AI seems to be able to field combat armour and gauss equipped infantry way faster than I can, around round 50, which is only slightly slower than what I last managed in a normal development speed game. It makes it ...

Re: Battle generation changes max speed of a ship

I've encountered this too. Pretty sure the patrolling cruisers sometimes operating in pairs is intended, but the game seems to erroneously assign the speed of the first (the named) cruiser as the speed of both ships.

Square's British 6" gun turrets

Earlier this year I had a go at making a couple of custom turret shapes, figured I might as well post them so other people can use them if they want.

The first is the very distinctive triple 6" mounting found on HMS Belfast and many other RN light cruisers. I'm really happy with how it looks in ...

Good question. It's certainly very useful to have a skilled and especially loyal person as the director of the Interior Council.
The first choice for keeping them happy is simply picking someone whose regime profile preferences generally align with what you are doing with your empire, then the ...

I also noticed some weirdness in the battle itself where ...

Re: [1.26h] Private economy offers excessive wages.

Wow those are high wages! Is there a major labour shortage by any chance? I've found when there are more private jobs than there are available workers wages tend to spike dramatically. disbanding private assets and closing public ones can free up workers and help control costs.

Theoretically a planet with minimal vegetation (ie shrubs) should have a small amount of oil compared to a heavily forested or jungle world?

Re: Volcanos

I think the key thing to look for if you want volcanoes is the planets age. The younger the planet the more geologically active it should be and consequently the more volcanoes it should have. I'm not sure what the age cut off is, but I'd guess anything less than 2 billion years is likely to have ...

[1.00.52] HE D* magazine hits and armour blow through

Not sure if this is bugged behavior or working as designed, and I know HE performance had been adjusted a couple times already this year, but I wanted to raise it again because the outcomes in the 1.00.52 seem off to me.

Recently on the unofficial discord a user shared an instance of a big heavy ...

Re: Spider armor thickness?

Your basic Arachnids and I think the Defendrix are soft targets but the scarier Dominatrix and Champion spiders are hard targets. I'm not sure what their effective armour thickness is, but on the last planet I played I was handling the spiders okay with machine guns and howitzer tanks before running ...

Re: Firefighting

Dramatically reducing speed does seem to help significantly with firefighting in my experience. The best thing to do seems to be to get fully out of combat, and slow down to 10 knots or less. Not sure if wind direction has an impact.

Re: [v1.26g] Deep Core Gas Extractor Fuel Miscalc

What Haplo said.
Judging by the lava lake there you are on a Cerberus class tend to be very young planets and consequently excellent candidates for deep core gas extraction. Planets that are old at 4 or 5 billion years on the other hand tend to be very poor for deep core gas extraction. It's one of ...
