Re: A Good Place to Start - Matthew (A) v Fokko (J) - Bottlenecks Mod

Checking back on my emails, I sent off the 10th May turn seven weeks ago.

I have had contact with my opponent, so he hasn't disappeared, and I have been assured the turn will be forthcoming. I have no idea when.

To paraphrase the headmaster played by John Cleese in 'Clockwise':

It's not the ...

Re: A Good Place to Start - Matthew (A) v Fokko (J) - Bottlenecks Mod

The Vibrators were not too well liked by Corps pilots in real life, but in this game they are pretty good with their long range and ability to hit targets targets as well as Dauntlesses. They are great for staging long distances and hitting TFs without air cover. That said, once they hit a well ...

PANIC HQ.

The capture of Milne Bay was discussed at the PANIC HQ evening meeting. It seems that even victory comes with its problems. As Captain Mainwaring explained: “The US Marines raised the Stars and Stripes over Milne Bay”.

“What is wrong with that?” asked Blackadder.

“Well, the ...

Up until today only 6 B17Es had been lost in the war, and they had seen a reasonable amount of action, so to lose so many in a single raid counts as a disaster.

Thanks JanSako, PaxMondo; I was thinking of LRCAP as basically the same as CAP just in a different hex, but I realise now they are quite different from each other in some respects.

Re: Never Thought I'd Start Another One - tc464 (A) vs. Mike (J)

21 Jul 42

I just sent the 25 Jul turn to Ted and have decided to do a couple of things. First, I'm going to dump a large load of mines in Akyab. I'm thinking 4-500. I'm also going to send a couple of small PBs (probably Kiso) into Chittagong harbor to see if there are any mines there. (I won't ...

Re: A Good Place to Start - Matthew (A) v Fokko (J) - Bottlenecks Mod

I entirely agree with you PaxMondo; if ever I see pilot fatigue creeping above 15 I normally start to get nosebleeds. This squadron is heading to Australia for some badly-needed R&R - once the Allied ships are in the clear. Until then it is the third option - it’s a conscious choice.

My point was ...

Airacobras.png

This squadron of Airacobras based at Port Moresby is (by some margin) the Allies' top-scoring squadron with 60 kills.

The pilots are pretty knackered at the moment; normally I wouldn't let fatigue climb so high and I'd like to stand them down, but the situation is a bit awkward ...
