I think I was the one who hosted this game, and I've not used/altered game options before. When hosting a game (or going into it in single player), is it up to the host to first check the scenario and then, if one sees there are no events to allow a variable turn ...

I was running the WW2 Crete scenario in TOAW IV; it's a 9 turn scenario with no events to allow the turn limit to be extended. I'm pretty new to the game so I'm probably missing something obvious, but at turn 9 the game did not end, and by turn 11 it was still going. What gives?

I doubt it; this is the same across two machines I've played the game on.

Working through this, thank you! I'm still very early in it; there is a typo on page five at the bottom. The hex coordinate with the arty is 0:8, not 8:9.

Anyhow, back to the tutorial!

EDIT: And this one is a super minor nitpick, but in both this user made tutorial and the official tutorials ...

There is some overlap with Advanced Tactics Gold and Decisive Campaigns series. Decisive Campaigns games are more historical, but ATG is perhaps more flexible and varied.

Well there was that time in the 80's I took my D&D box to school to get some friends to play, only to have it confiscated by the principal claiming it was the work of the devil. My mother kicked his ass and got my game back but I was never allowed to bring it to school again.

I'm very surprised this thread hasn't been updated with all the fantastic sales currently running on Steam. I made a thread a few days asking for advice in picking a game, but after purchasing one of them, I ended up getting the other two titles as well all for dirt cheap.

Just wanted to say thanks one more time. I feel like I will probably try the other titles sometime in the distant future, but I decided to go with Adv. Tactics Gold. Read through a good portion of the manual, now I'm running the tutorials.

I have both #2 and all the titles of #3 and both series are quite good!
