Re: Why is this a defeat?

I did wonder about that myself. I had only 2% of my forces left, I think it was a half squad or a leader or something like that. It's currently hidden under the defeat notice anyway.

I do think maybe a Contested Battle notification might be better than a straight out defeat here. After all, the ...

Why is this a defeat?

I was playing the Dzerzhinskiy Tractor Factory in the Stalingrad DLC and fought my way through to 3 of the 4 victory hexes required to win. The Allies on their final turn managed to kill all of my troops holding the victory hexes but didn't manage to actually take them or turn the victory hex flags ...

Is there a blind spot with the AI?

I previously noted that the AI seemed to miss my units moving around the edge of the map in the scenario ' Major Lewis Push for the Road Bridge ' in the AAR section. Here's the AAR I'm referring to:

I was playing another scenario ...

Re: The Meuvaines Ridge Strongpoint

...And here's the Victory screen, as promised.

Victoy.jpg

I was sure this was going to be a battle to the end when I started out due mostly to the quite tight 5 turn limit, but of course the enemy put paid to that almost at the outset with it's ill-conceived dash for the open. If only it had ...

The Meuvaines Ridge Strongpoint

edit: I forgot to mention, the Victory Condition in this scenario is to destroy or pin all enemy units.

I had a very clear plan right from the outset with this one. I was pleased to see we had smoke available again, but in the end it all went so well that I completely forgot I had it at my ...

... And I've just noticed that MG's line of sight looks to be just tipping that forest hex. Don't know why I didn't see it before. That explains that then :D

Re: The Chateau at Lion-sur-Mer

We're on turn 4 of 5 now and things are on a knife edge. The enemy has something like 14 Firepower in that last Objective and I only just have the edge on them and that's if I can move in without being shot to hell. My heart is racing at this point. I honestly thought it could go either way.

5 ...

The Chateau at Lion-sur-Mer

Once again, this one went right down to the wire and had me on the edge of my seat. This seems to be becoming a habit.

This is the initial plan.

1 Initial plan.jpg

It started quite well. I managed to find a way to skirt around the very bottom of the map with only one(or maybe two) hex(es ...

Re: Karvon’s Valor & Victory Play Through

I understand a lot of your frustrations if I'm honest but in my case I'm not only used to quite heavily dice-based resolution systems(I've played blood bowl...) but actually find they give me that long sought after 'edge of the seat' feeling that I wouldn't pass up for the world.

I recently played ...

Re: Why am I unable to fire upon the AFV?

Oh, OK. That makes sense. Thanks.

Also, I'm pretty sure this scenario describes the Allies as the attackers. They're clearly defending. I'll double check later but I'm nearly sure that was the case. Not that it matters really of course. I just thought it was a little strange.

Why am I unable to fire upon the AFV?

I was playing the Arnhem scenario 'Frosts Last Stands Firm' as Allies. In the first screenshot below I'm unable to target the APV and I'm not sure why. I have full LOS to them, I'm in range. I have a PIAT in the stack too. What makes it more confusing is that the same units are able to target the ...

Re: Major Lewis Push for the Road Bridge

Thanks Lance.

I'm sure it would give me a relatively good game anyway if I played normally. I think it was just pure chance that I happened to notice the opportunity to sneak around the edge like that. Was fun to see it work that first time, but I'd obviously play more normally in future of course ...

Major Lewis Push for the Road Bridge

I've only recently started playing this after having bought the game and DLC some time ago. Now, I'm either a Tactical genius or I simply found a blind spot in the AI's plans. What made it all even funnier was this only the second time I've played this scenario, and the same thing happened the first ...

Re: So why didn't you buy?

The main reason I held off buying for so long was because I wanted to buy 'either' Valor & Victory 'or' Lock n Load tactical. So I started looking at reviews online for them both and to be honest there seems to me to be a good deal more love for Lock n Load tactical. There are of course devotees of ...
