Re: Anyone up for a smaller scenario? Preferably PreWWI

I will be back to TOAW from roughly mid next week, maybe bit earlier. I like smaller scenarios. I will send you now PM, if you do not see anything in your box, post msg here if interested. I have no experience/knowledge with smaller pre-ww1, if you find some, ok with me.

Best regards

Re: one question about flanking attack penalty

As I understand the TOAW ruleset, I would comment as follows:

- assuming that you have not moved any of the yellow-circled units, the prolonged combat (more combat rounds and timestamp adjustment afterwards) should come strictly from the higher battle complexity (more units, also flanking effect ...

Re: Deutsch-Französischer Krieg 1870/71

I haven't played this, but I see Rhinobones made adjusted version (same name, but ending with "..RB01"). Maybe you try that one as well, or talk to Rhinobones. But if you are a beginner in TOAW, I would advise you to start with something smaller, to learn at least to at least some level several of ...

Re: how to read combat full report vs. combat chart ?

I noticed many times issues with the combat report. Very rarely I actually read it. I do put attention into studying battles that happened, but I mainly just check the chart and carefully inspect how the map looks like (I learned most by playing hotseat against myself or AI and no fog of war and ...

Re: Remagen

I copied the file and started again. The only difference I have noted is maybe a difference in the dynamics...I was playing very quickly, like speed chess, not really giving too much thinking to any tactical approach and proper arty usage. So very "dirty" and quick game, same as previous time. Now I ...

Re: About the possibility of open Source code

Honestly I am not a professional coder. But what I can do with Godot so easily, a hex grid plus drag, zoom in less than 100 lines of code makes me think that this is a big time gain. And it supports Vulkan API already, cross platform… Going back to

I would not hurry with conclusions. It is not ...

Re: max round per battle: Normandy

I am not fully sure (have not tested in editor playground with custom battles) if what follows is correct, but at least it is close. More experienced ppl here in the forum probably would know more:

So, max rounds for any battle is 10. If you set this MRPB (valid for both sides) to 5, when the round ...

Re: About the possibility of open Source code

In which language is the game written...I presume C++, or even C if the majority of the code is so old? Is the code written in object-orientated manner?

Is there any more general ui framework present or everything is custom?

I came to this gem very recently (in contrast to most of the people here ...

Re: How many retained movement points to guarantee combat

Hello,

I am also kind of newbie for the game, but will try to help. For sure, more experienced guys monitoring the forum will correct me where wrong.

Basically, you have to understand a concept of 10 tactical rounds so to say that you have in your turn. That affects movement and battle. If you ...

Re: Eastern Front scenario rail repair

What I see in the editor is that this is coming from the event 921...effect: rail repair. And manual states the following for this event type (17.9.4 in the manual):

This is the greatest number of Rail locations that will automatically be repaired by the Force in any given Turn. This ability is in ...

Hey Alomoes...thank you very much on this in-depth info! Especially on the link to this much valued summary set of (colorful) tables! Great stuff indeed!.

Re: Am I misunderstanding supply, or is this just a tough scenario?

Really helpful guys, thank you. Yes it's baffling that such a critical element of the scenario is hidden from view and not documented. Especially since the designer took so much time to create all these events in the first place,

Well, it is up to the scenario creator to add the necessary ...

Re: Am I misunderstanding supply, or is this just a tough scenario?

Hi,

I am also the beginner in TOAW, so I hope I can help at least a bit. I took a look at this scenario in the editor. Generally, the initial force stock supply level (for both of them) is just 5 out of 100 possible. You can try making your own custom version of the scenario by modifying this ...

Re: Trying to understand inner logic of battles...

Seems to work that way.

I have the following setup with 2 blue units attacking 3 stacked reds (all units exactly the same composition in force editor). If I simply order limited attack with one of blue's - it is close to suicide ;) Repeated couple of times. But if first one of blue's "sacrifice" a ...
