You can already do that in mission generator. It is the "Player Starting Edge" setting when you're choosing what kind of mission it is (attack, defence etc.).

It sure would be nice if we had more information after a battle about who killed who. Either just a list or maybe info when selecting a unit.

Yes. It happens only in fullscreen mode. You can't capture the effect in screenshot. You would need to take photo of monitor with camera in order to show it.
