That's a cool trick! I do something similar when I'm grinding in games. Sometimes I'll throw on a Let's Play of something like Fnaf to keep me entertained. Alt-tabbing can be a lifesaver, especially if you don't have a second monitor. Keeps things from getting too repetitive, right?
