RE: War in the Pacific base game - Workaround for Windows 8/8.1 and 10

<t> Hi johnjohn,<br/>
<br/>
I think you will find all the switches applicable for WitP mentioned in this thread but I believe you are trying to play WitP-AE and this is the wrong forum then.<br/>
<br/>
Try searching the other forum but I can mention my experience after upgrading to Win 10. The ...

<r> Hi Roger,<br/>

Not sure but I don't think an update of the game will work as an original install. Did you read this page:<br/>

Hi,

If you want to I can take a look at your save. Difficult to say anything otherwise.I've never experienced anything like that. At least not on a major scale.

RE: CHS vs Jap AI Progress

Hi,

Did you try to load them on one or more AGCs? I don't think that it specifically says so in the manual but it might be that only those ships can carry those HQs. To get the amphibious bonus you definitely need to use them according to the manual.

Check if you have enough support squads at Guadalcanal. It won't remove the problem but it there will be less devices (squads, guns) disabled if you have enough or more than required.<br/>

RE: Partial problem

<t> Hi,<br/>
<br/>
It's happened several times to me too. I think I understand how the code works in this case. It will always make the sub unit with the most amount of support squads the parent unit. Due to this the parent unit can actually "move" because another subunit suddenly has more support ...

<t> Hi,<br/>
<br/>
Probably an old "glitch" in the code from the original WitP. I've just had the same thing happen to me in a WitP game.<br/>
<br/>
I'm not so sure it's a bad thing. IRL I think this is exactly what happened. As long as you have replacement devices available and the experience ...

RE: Ramblings

+1 [:)]

The one thing I do miss is the possibility of getting bug fixes though. In AE there's a chance but unfortunately not in WitP. The ones I know about are not destroying the game so I can live with them but it's irritating sometimes.

RE: CV air groups with PDU off

<t> It definitely removes a lot of decisions you can/must make with PDU on but if you look at the CVs and their airgroups the last AC to enter production is B6N Jill in 43-12. Taiho will arrive around the 1st of April in 44 and Amagi and the rest in the autumn and later. This is without any ...

RE: CV air groups with PDU off

<t> You will get the groups with the complement of ACs as if they would have been available for production. I think that for most Japanese carriers not all of the AGs are fully equipped but I might be wrong.<br/>

The downside is that any losses are impossible to replace until the AC comes ...

RE: Official maps gone

<t> Hi,<br/>
<br/>
You mean that you are missing the pwhex.dat file? As for continuing an already starting game I think that the game map is stored in the save file but a quick test showed that WitP won't start without Pwhex.dat in the main folder.<br/>

You could install the game again in ...

<r> Hi,<br/>

In my experience you have in fact already sunk that ship when you see that during the actual attack. The annoying thing is that pilots try to sink ships that are already gone when there are others all around. <br/>

<t> Hi,<br/>
<br/>
Japanese AVs and CSs operate their aircraft while at sea without any problems. I don't believe there are any Allied ships (AVs, AVDs) which actually carry any air groups in vanilla WitP but I might be wrong. They will only support basing of aircraft.<br/>

RE: My troubles with escorts

Hi,

If you have a target set try without any target. In general I don't have any problems with this but I never set a target for the escorting fighters, just zero CAP. You get escorts witha CAP percentage set too but less of course.
