Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 18
I find myself back reading my turn 2 post to figure out what was the plan and how much it has gone fubar. It technically hasn’t – I should have gotten my rail line into El Paso this turn and I am about three turns before that happens but the plan gave a ton of leeway for some delays in ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 17
I am punished for the weakness of my airdrop with one of the Italian and one German paratroop Divisions destroyed. I am able to counter attack and surround and destroy some Allied units here as well and when everything is said and done the spread is back to moving in my favour ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 16
It is turn 16 and there goes the National Guard Corp. There will be a little of this and a little of that for the Allies going forward but the west should be basically empty at this stage.

Heavy Allied counter attacks in the east disrupt my own attacks. I see something of an opening for ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 15
It is extreme out there. The Allies don’t attack even once this turn. The counterattack in the East is at least on pause. If I had to guess it is to preserve forces. Losses were jumping and the Allied replacement Rate has fallen pretty low. There could well be a plan to try and preserve ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

I realize I have a lot more Germans here then is really at all useful. Maybe it is time to get them to a port with an HQ and wait for them to resupply and get up to 100% readiness before transferring them back to the main front? Somehow when I was planning this campaign I thought I would need ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 14
The East is a brutal back and forth with the Allies pushing hard toward Mobile and Axis forces counter attacking to retrieve things. It is all roughly the original start lines when the turn ends with a lot of dead for both of us. I am still out ahead in terms of the spread, but it is ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Against what Chris is doing here I suspect the best Axis response is to take it. Race forward to the Super Rivers and cross over trying to get to Chicago before turn 50.

Unless the Allies are really wrecked at this point, aren't they just pulling back to start building an indestructible ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 13
Well this is a bit of a conundrum. So Chris is clearly reinforcing the East while at the same time he has broken contact in the West and fled beyond the range of the Panzertruppen. My strategy has a problem and that problem is me – or more specifically it is that I am wedded to my strategy ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 12
East of the Mississippi it is back and forth as my attempts to advance are hit with strong Allied counter attacks. No real movement here though I am beginning to reorganize my artillery and build up for a more identifiable line of attack. Don’t expect that to work particularly quickly ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 11
I begin to get some inkling on how Chris is conducting his defence this turn. I mean I think I am starting to get some insight on how he plays overall. The first element that stands out is very heavy reinforcements to Alabama, especially near the coast.

Not 100% on what I am looking at ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 10
This turn is a bit extreme in that it starts off looking bad but ends up being a good turn.

Chris really pounds into me in Alabama. I am driven back so hard that I am a bit concerned about Mobile and I throw just about all the reinforcements this way in order to make a go of recovering ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 9
For the first time since turn 1 the Spread is against me. It is just a small amount where last turn it was 56 in my favour and this turn it is 54 in my favour. I don’t believe this is a trend, instead it is an indication that, for the second turn in a row I am mostly reacting on the front ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 8
Chris kicks off a really fierce counter attack driving my Axis back in Alabama, Louisiana and Texas. In Alabama the 12th American Armoured Division drives deep into Axis lines which diverts all my reinforcements but by turns end the intruder is surrounded and 3rd Panzer destroys it. In ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 7
Chris launches a series of counter attacks this turn that really highlight just how over extended I am. Now to be clear I believe that if the Axis are not over extended at this stage in the scenario you are doing it wrong, nonetheless this has got me feeling a fair bit of strain and slowed ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

This is especially a concern (albeit not yet) as you haven't landed in the Northeast. Normally, the Allied player is thrown deep into an attritional battle up here which sucks in a good portion of their starting forces. Absent that front, the Allies can choose to engage more lightly and build up ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 6
The different parts of the front are really showing off their different characteristics this turn. Everything east of the Mississippi is just caught up in a slog if I happen to be on the offensive. A lot of the front is actually on the defensive at the moment and reinforcements into the ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 5
What is standing out to me here is that the Allies are trying to form a loose ring around my landings and then, presumably, hoping to infill that as reinforcements arrive. I’d do this in the East because Axis mobility is so reduced and it might work here to a solid degree near Mobile ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 4
Well killing the Mexican stack works. I outlined a whole plan to attack Monterrey at some later point after El Paso fell above but I kind of just can’t pass this up. I manage 1 Infantry Division into Tampico along with an HQ this turn but I plan to send another 5 all tasked with occupy ...

Re: Fall Grau 2.29 Jeremy (Axis) vs. Chris (Allies)

Turn 3
Chris is aggressive sending forces to block me in wherever possible. This feels somewhat mixed at Galveston and Mobile where I have to be careful, fight hard to advance and at Mobile end up cut off at turn start. Nonetheless I am clearly pushing forward off the beaches.

In Mexico I think ...

Re: Arrival "on" off map

Supplies are cumulative so if the unit starts at 60% supply and there is a supply point giving out supplies at 5 then, assuming the unit does not move it will go up by 5 supplies pert turn. So 65 on the next turn and 70 on the turn after that.
