Re: Matrix games failing to reduce the cost of a 21 year old game

I would happily pay three times that amount for a revamped Steel Panthers.

Re: Steel Tigers?

Same for Steel Panthers but, if Steel Tigers is coming, I am sure you will have upgraded top AAA graphics for only the invasion of Poland. And then, a DLC, another one, another one to introduce few more units for few more campaigns.

I wouldn't mind that, because after all it would be Steel ...

Re: Steel Tigers?

I still play and enjoy a lot of computer games like War Thunder, but turn based wargames have fallen out of favor. Which is a shame because they traditionally were; next to Rogue-likes, my favorite genre. Panzer General 1 and 2, the Campaign Series, Steel Panthers, the original Combat Mission ...

Re: Steel Tigers?

Haven't played Steel Panthers in several years now because it's just... too old.

Old but still awesome :)

I was so excited that work had been started on Steel Tigers and so disappointed to hear it has stopped.

We don't know if it stopped. We just don't know what happened with it at all ...

Re: RE: Any game like Steel Panthers on the horizon?

Sad that the concept introduced by the original Steel Panthers and culminating in SPWAW, SPWW2 and SPMBT has sort of stalled.

I still have high hopes that fine turn-based low-level tactical game for WW2 and beyond is on the way. I hope it gets here before I go, or my fingers get so stiff I can't ...

Re: Any game like Steel Panthers on the horizon?

Matrix announced a successor, Steel Tigers, back in 2015 and they have precisely nothing to show for it.

Re: Your favourite wargames

Steel Panthers in all its incarnations. I even fire up SP3 on DosBox on occasion. I also even made a complete Civil War mod for WinSPWW2.

Only other wargame I play is Civil War Generals 2, the oldie-but-goodie from Sierra.

Re: SPWaW

There actually was a War of the Worlds mod done for SP2 back in about 2000, but it was set in WW1 with the human player as the imperial Germans against the Martians.

Re: SPWAW

Ya know, at this point I would be perfectly happy with Matrix simply picking back up where they left off in supporting SP:WaW. And I'd gladly pay good money for it, too. I'd also be happy with an updated color palette for the icons. I don't necessarily need 3D graphics.. there was nothing wrong with ...

Re: SPWAW

Wow, blast from the past!

The Depot was shut down some years ago and I *think* Bernie passed away? The free forum site that it was resurrected at is overrun with ads and there's virtually no activity there either.

I'd pay seriously good money for Steel Tigers, as would most of us, but that seems ...
