Could someone explain to me in detail what fire control, range finder, and the radio rarity do? What happens if you don't have a radio?

If you know that there are some enemies hiding in a certain forest but you can't see them, how can you detect them beside moving to the hex next to them? I found that indirect fire on the hexes can sometimes help. Is there any other way?

When you buy your core forces at the start of a campaign, what kind of artilleries if any do you buy? I usually don't buy any and just buy artillery with the support money that I get each battle. Is this the wrong way to play?
