Download the latest patch to the game then launch it, it will say you have the latest version installed, ignore that.

I've tried this scenario versus the AI and maybe I don't know what I am doing but I do not think that the program is accounting for leader bonuses correctly. Several times it seemed that leader bonuses were not taken into account during combat. Anyone else notice this?

I have Phantom Leader on IOS,
Dan makes some great games but the ios conversion isn't great in my opinion, Its very dry.
Also Field Commander Rommel for ios has been a disappointment, maybe I need to play it more but I've found it unwieldy and impossible to win.

If you want to trade that extra copy of English Civil War I have a few extra titles that I would gladly swap out.
