RE: Game Registration

<t> Marc, Herston, Thank you for prompt replies. I have successfully downloaded the 1.12 patch and will install as soon as I have finished my outstanding v 1.11 KP game.<br/>
<br/>
Thanks for the info on BiN I will find the e-mail/paperwork relating to my download purchase and find the serial ...

RE: PBEM game, are US and UK version compatible

<t> I was one of the playtesters for KP and was sent a copy of the US version. I have upgraded to v1.11 but am playing a European opponent who was just upgraded to v. 1.12. Is there a US upgrade to v 1.12? I have tried to load the first turn of an e-mail scenario he sent me but I get a message ...

Game Registration

I have come back to playing KP and BiN and would like to register my games and also download any patches. Where do I find my registration number for these games? Is it written on the game disk or is it installed on the computer somewhere in the game directory?

Korsun Pocket - People's Wargames version

<t>I am not sure if this game was ever issued in a box. I bought mine in Dungeons and Starships in Birmingham England back in 1980 (I think!) and it came in a plastic bag. It cost me the princely sum of £12 which was quite a large amount at that time for what was essentially paper and cardboard and ...

Game Editor

<r>I haven't delved too deeply into it yet but I believe KP comes with a game editor.<br/>
<br/>
Therefore it should be possible (correct me if I'm wrong!) to create new scenarios from scratch from other theatres of war without waiting for a new release.<br/>

I know that Rob Gjessing's and ...

E-mailing a turn file

<t>Is the problem that only one game can be active at a time? For example when you start game one you give the player names and default e-mail addresses.<br/>
<br/>
However if you start a new game against a different opponent can the program keep the different addresses in its memory or are the ...

Tao3

<t>I am not happy with the Ardennes scenario (TAO3) in Korsun Pocket as it stands. Admittedly I have only played it once against Rob during the playtesting of KP but it rapidly became a slugfest. The extra realism imparted by the updated and much improved game interface which were primarily designed ...

I lay claim to be the first player on the Classic Wargames to add KP to his "games played" list. I think this warrants a promotion to general (in the Albanian army!) don't you?<br/>

I have now installed the finished game on my PC and am looking forward to a few games of ...

Die Die Die!

<t>Joe,<br/>
<br/>
I have played a lot of TAO2 games and can't say I have noticed this "1" on the die roll phenomenon as either German or US player. Perhaps you've just had very bad luck!<br/>
<br/>
In fact it is possible the German player may be favoured by the die initially. There was some ...

<t>Capitaine,<br/>
<br/>
In the context of TAO I agree with you. The German player can have a hard time of it and allowing the US the advantage (with their flow of replacements) of rebuilding its dead units would probably make the chance of German success nil in that game.<br/>
<br/>
However the ...

<t>A loss is a loss. A unit in KP that has been destroyed i.e. has no steps remaining cannot be rebuilt whether the losses were timed or normal losses.<br/>

I would like to see the option of rebuilding units from the dead pile that had suffered timed losses but had not been given the time by ...

Timed Replacements

<t>I think that the timed replacements represent to some extent the ability of a formation to heal itself through reorganisation. A disorganised and fatigued unit is less effective than one that is rested and in good order and so capable of obeying and carrying out its orders.<br/>
<br/>
For example ...

<t>Timed steps are steps that will be replaced automatically by the unit after the stated number of turns elapses. A unit may replace the lost step with a normal replacement if available before the timed step is automatically replaced.<br/>

In this event the timed step will be returned to the ...

Men or Steps

<t>I don't see why operational wargames can't use men as a measure of unit strengths rather than a numerical combat strength. Surely it would be more lifelike to show a unit as having 300 men and not one step. The same goes for tanks in armoured units. Clearly there would be an underlying numerical ...

<t>I have many of The Gamers OCS series games but unfortunately don't have the time to play them. The maps are also fairly large so it is difficult to find space to set them up and leave them. AI in TAO

<t>In reply to KG Erwin - although SSG AI has always been a cut above the rest (Carriers at War for example) I don't think too much time should be spent on its development. <br/>

I have played a number of confident rookies at TAO2 who have played the AI to death and licked it hollow (not ...

Detachments

Unlike strongpoints detachments have no defence strength and merely delay an opponent as he is forced to spend more movement points to move through the hex. Most units may make one detachment a turn but cannot then attack or entrench.
