I did update my audio drivers, but it didn't help in my case.

I had the EXACT same error and also have an SB Audigy sound card. I got the game to run by turning the sound card OFF (ie no longer the default sound provider). Worked perfectly!

Mines an ATI X300 (or X something, cant remember the exact #) with 128MB.

I run 1280x800 on an HP pavilion and have same trouble. I dont think its drivers (I have ATI card btw) but something to do with the odd resolution.

Happens to me too. I have an HP Pavillion that runs at 1280x800 and it windows. GGWAW goes full screen on it though.

There is a starforce removal tool that you need to run to get the crap off your computer. You can find it easily if you google for it, but I think it can also be found on the starforce website.
