RE: Combat Mission Fortress Italy: Rome to Victory

^^ Exactly, bang for the buck, the CM games are incredible bargains as there are hundreds of hours of gameplay included.

RE: SALUTE to Frank Hunter and his games

Yes kudos to Frank Hunter and his designs. Really, really happy with CotD, imo the best treatment of Napoleonic warfare on the computer; just wish there were more!

RE: Desert War: Why Didn't You Buy?

<t> I did have this on my wish list, but held back from buying due to AI limitations. I messed around with the previous free version and was very interested in seeing the concept develop, especially the Desert War theatre, but that too had almost an almost non existent AI, forgivable due to the ...

RE: Attn: Vic\Slitherine\Matrix!

<t> Sounds great, except for one glaring, and fatal oversight: marketability. Wargames are a tiny slice of the gaming market already, focusing on a subset of that... How much traction does DC:Barbarossa, or wargames in general, get elsewhere? Very little it seems. Take 'Grogheads', a misnomer if ...

RE: Attn: Vic\Slitherine\Matrix!

<r> Well I agree this is one of the best, and unique, wargames developed and would be unfortunate if there were no followup; I have to unlurk to state that a WWI version would be like the proverbial nail in the coffin for the series. Best not go there or even spend energy thinking about it. <E>;)</E ...

For me, stacking isn't a big deal, because the map scale is large enough to accomplish what I want to do during a game. It's all a matter of taste to some degree; I dislike stacks and find them cumbersome and somewhat counter-intuitive (no ...

RE: Public Beta for Matrix Version

<t> Yes I don't use Steam either so don't have access to the beta patch. It does seem like an odd choice to not release it here also. For kicks, I browsed the community forum on Steam for this game to see if that's where the action is and it seems just as inactive as here, so more of a head ...

RE: Completed a 2nd campaign (on Emperor)

<t> I completed the game on Normal and doubt very much I will be going back in again unless there is a massive overhaul of the game. Perhaps coming from Hannibal, my expectations were too high but V&G has been designed down so far gameplay has been reduced to the point of asking 'why bother'? For ...

This is the reason why I didn't implement PBEM, too many files to be exchanged between players because of the nature of the game design. The way the defending player can respond with defensive fire against an enemy unit moving, it just ...

RE: Hopes for this game

<t> I don't know, single player and hotseat only for this type of game raises eyebrows. I'm assuming the file exchanges are the obstacle to overcome? Others have solved this so am unsure why not here. More of an odder design choice is the lack of walls, hedges, bocage etc, and assuming again no ...

I agree with Speedy here. A sample size of '1' simply is not conclusive of anything, especially in light of the variability built into the game.

RE: Geneva Convention as Default?

<t> So let me get this straight, DC3 offers the option to include a story line in the game on a sensitive subject that no other game even touches on, ie the other games are all off by design, and instead of recognition they are blasted for it not being the default option? And I thought wargamers ...
