Political Aspects of Civil War: How modeled in game?

I am very much looking forward to this one! But I do have a question on how the political aspects of the Republic are handled in game....IRL, it was very complex and tricky, so curious if there is a way to model it

Thinking of Basques and Catalans, who had their own specific agenda, plus the ...

Re: Grand Campaign --- Q-Ball vs Sertorius21

Again I will say you appear to have been able to channel your opponents attacks on a narrow front leaving you many opportunities to launch a counter operations from both the Sumy and Chernigov regions, the coming winter should be interesting.

Anyway its a very interesting campaign by both of you ...

Re: Grand Campaign --- Q-Ball vs Sertorius21

Yeah, the rail network and supply dynamic could be a little different.....late-war Soviets, the Rail Network and Supplies are a real constraint, but there just aren't those kinds of demands in 1941/42, so I never felt like I had a supply issue....there was always a way to on-map refit rather than ...

TB Box Control: Which side does it favor?

Question: When the GC Scenario is set to TB Box Control, allowing both players control of the Theater Boxes, which side does that favor more?

My gut tells me it favors the Axis, particularly after 1942 when some mobile units are moved around constantly, like the SS units.

Soviets do benefit ...

Re: Grand Campaign --- Q-Ball vs Sertorius21

Overall, I wasn't sure what to expect in the Summer '42 campaign.....as Sertorius said, my defensive strategy was based on (where he was attacking):

1. 2 rows or so of Rifle Divisions (of course dug-in as much as possible)
2. 3rd row of mostly "Counterattack" units; Guards Rifle Corps, Cav Corps ...

Re: Grand Campaign --- Q-Ball vs Sertorius21

It was a good attack there, and generally took advantage of how I arranged my defenses

Once I identified where the Panzers were, I had lines of units 3 or 4 hexes deep. The advantage there is that it's really tough to get a runaway breakout as Germans, which was the primary thing I was trying to ...

Re: Questions on the soviet AI in 1943 campaign.

AFV losses should not be a problem for the Reds; they look a little high, but at this point the Soviets are producing upwards of 600 or 700 AFVs per turn, and in some classes production was higher in 1942, so that aspect is probably fine

The AI will struggle to attack you for other reasons, mostly ...

Re: Manpower and pool

If you're playing a human, some players would object to using lots of Airborne Brigades to make Divisions/Corps. It might be considered a bit gamey, even if it is AP-intensive.

The Ski Brigades, IMO, are too small to be useful except in deep snow (when they get multipliers). Not sure what others do ...

Re: Manpower and pool

It's not a disaster that you built a bunch of Naval Infantry Brigades, but you may later want to disband some for Manpower. As you say they are useful units in 1941/42, and are useful in attack as SU Attachments (they are multi-role)

Rifle Brigades, however, are a better option; they are about the ...

Re: Which GG game has the deepest player managed logistics

WITE 2 has much more complex logistics than WITE 1; it's one of the main differences between them.

IMO, WITP-AE has the most complex logistical system. Some of it by necessity is abstracted, but playing Japan you have to manage several different inputs and outputs....so if that's your bag, you'll ...

Re: Set static

My two cents....

While it's true those sectors are typically pretty static, and the front doesn't move much, IMO I don't think it's ever worth it to use "STATIC" mode. You gets some APs and Trucks, but you give-up mobility, which can be crucial in defense. That unit also cannot counterattack as it ...

Re: Grand Campaign --- Q-Ball vs Sertorius21

Generally as Germans, IMO you shouldn't disband or merge anything (except forts), except in very narrow cicrumstances. Mostly, when you're out of Manpower and it's "end times" for Germany or Romania; in 1945 the Germans can probably disband FBD and other units if you're desperate for infantry. But I ...

Re: Wunderwaffles: Quality is a Quality on its own!

I think the German player will lose alot of planes on Night Ops....once. Just switch everything to "Day Only", and it solves that problem. It's not sustainable.

Without a bunch of German planes crashing into the woods, night bombing is a waste of time and resources.....even if you have a billion ...

Re: Grand Campaign --- Q-Ball vs Sertorius21

I didn't know that trick either on the depots....I'll try that, have a 1941 winter coming-up as Germans

I'll comment on that probing attack after hearing everyone's responses.....there was a reason for that attack, and also a mis-click (I accidently launched it before committing a couple more units ...

Re: Let us reform the Red Army of Workers and Peasants! (Advice needed)

TANK SUs in 1942 are a good topic; IMO, Tank Brigades are the way to go, so you are doing fine there. The reason I prefer those is that once they are Guards, you can combine those in December to Guards Tank Corps. (Once they are Guards, just be careful not to leave them open to counterattack; they ...

Re: Quick Questions Thread

Supplied units across the Kerch straight that are unconnected by land don't seem to be able to attach support units.
Is there a rule that for SUs there has to be a land link to the rail network ?

There must be, because I've never gotten it to work

In all cases, though, you can "Push" an SU ...

Asking this for purposes of the Guards Cap.......

Is a MECH unit considered, for purposes of the Cap, an ARMOR unit or MOTORIZED unit?

AFAIK, it's neither. Mech is its own formation type, so it has its own guards cap. Because of this, just from a numbers standpoint it's easier to create more ...

Thanks Q-Ball and Wiedrock.

Let me put the question in a different way.

Tank Corps - what are the best SUs to assign and are there any I should never assign.

Cav Corps - what are the best SUs to assign and are there any I should never assign.

Rifle Corps - what are the best SUs to assign and ...

Re: Let us reform the Red Army of Workers and Peasants! (Advice needed)

Congratulations Comrade for Defending the Motherland! Now to expel the fascist invaders.

Yes, I think this is a good topic, since I am in the same spot. As 1942 moves to 1943, what do you need to do to get the Red Army to an offensive force?

The biggest change from 42 to 43, besides morale, is the ...
