RE: 939 years ago today............

Actually Normans were a mix of Celtish refugees from England (thus the claim for throne), Viking settlers from north with some local Breton blood as well. Mix that with Saxons and you have defined the ancestors of current population.

RE: Late war Jap fighters

The octane rating on aviaton gas is related to it's vaporization abilities in low temperature low pressure conditions. This means that high altitude performance will be compromised with low octane (aviaton rating) fuel. It is not the same thing as automotive octane rating.

Does supply convoy bug effect AI?

With this trouble about automatic supply convoys not forming properly, does this mean that AI can not supply it's bases? If this is the case there's no point in playing against AI with 1.5 version. Just wondering before I'll decide to start a long campaign.

RE: Any Allies interested in a scen 15?

<r> I think I could give it a shot. I've been pounding AI as allies so far with a quick try as japanese. I think it's time to try it against something more competent <E>:)</E> I could probably crank out about 5 turns / week somewhat irregularly. Send me an e-mail if interested.<br/>

Morane Saulnier comes to my mind, but I guess they were not used in pacific. I'd say some Dutch recon plane.

It is indeed Gorch Fock (original one) or one of her sisters. Here's another shot from the period:

I´d guess this is not a British gun. The breech blocks on British guns swung to the side, like an opening door, once they were retracted from the bore. At least they did on the 15-inchers. I guess that would rule out Japanese guns, too. The ...

RE: What's happening at 100 feet?

Same here. I've had my beaufighters on 100ft naval attack and no bomb hits (ie. they are not dropping bombs) during 1 month of attacking japanese transports. They seem to be pretty useless now when compared to UV.

I had one of the Hudson squadrons in Dacca that also used torpedoes. They were pretty efficient, almost like betties once they gained some experience.

Same here, horrendous AC, AK/AP and SS losses for AI due to reasons mentioned. I really do hope these issues will be corrected in the patch, otherwise I'll have to start playing Japanese side.

RE: No US AP bombs

<t> It seems you can only hurt japanese BBs with torpedoes. I haven't seen any deck armor penetrations either, even Kongos will shrug off 1000 pounders. If this is historically inaccurate I hope it will be fixed. It certainly is different from UV, reminds me of the untouchable BBs of early pacwar ...

RE: Not all 'early' CV battles go the IJN way

<t> I sunk 4 japanese CVs (PH strike force) in the first 2 or three days. With variable setup 2 US CVs were in range and managed to cripple 3 out of 4 the first day. Surface TFs harassed them the next 3 nights and CVs finished the job. The game was pretty much over by mid 42. Shokaku and Zuikaku ...
