Under preferense you can find a field called Messages delay(I hope. I am running ver 8.0 ). Chage that to what you find ok.

I played a scenario in SPWAW 8.0 ( The Horror of War, The Spanish war), Nationalist side, and the picture showing the aeroplane S.M 79 is not right. Instead there is a picture of some kind of small tank or something. A bug or........

I think it is one of the best sub movies !! I have seen both the original and the dirctors cut versions.

About your question about the record. I recall seeing a confirm kill from the first Gulf war at the range of 1600 m ( not really sure about the exact range but it was over 1200 m ). If it is a long range record I don´t know. There might be others...

When playing scenarios I use to play both sides ( if it works) just to get some challange
