RE: Command At Sea -- The Rising Sun

$25? That's a steal! I paid $42 for mine, and I am extremely pleased with the purchase.

RE: Command At Sea -- The Rising Sun

If it's the one from Clash at Arms, then it is the minitures system from Harpoon, adapted for WW2. If you like Harpoon, then will like CaS:The Rising Sun. It does, however, only go to about late 42 or early 43. It does not cover the entire war.

RE: Magazine explosions

<t> If 4% chance of penetrating hit causes mag explosion, then P(1)=6(.04)(.96)^5 = 0.196 approx.<br/>
<br/>
We should then expect to see the PoW vs Chikuma happen one time five (about). Is this combat typical?<br/>
<br/>
If the chance was changed to 1%, then P(0)=(.99)^6=0.94 approx. or .06 ...

RE: Magazine explosions

<t> Howdy,<br/>
<br/>
Just curious. In the combats with magazine explosions, how many penetrating hits are there? How many hits total?<br/>
<br/>
Answers to those questions will go a long way to help know if the results are probable. Sometimes our gut feeling is not in line with the resulting ...

RE: Magazine explosions

Using a simple binomial distribution, the probability of 2 occuring in 100 penetrations is about .14 They most likely happen a little more than we would be thinking.

I was surprised when I saw that the probabilty of zero in 100 chances was .01

<t>I'll try the follow command from now. Would be nice ifit were easier, but I guess it's time to leave them alone and let them continue with their work. No sense in complaining about things which are unbroken. I guess we all want to eat our cake........<br/>

The system used in Pacific War worked nicely. Maybe we could lobby for a similar system.

Slpitting Task Forces

<t>Why is it every time a major ship is damaged, the rest of the ships, save one DD, leave her behind? I try to make the others escort my damaged CVs home, but they refuse to even try. When the subs come, there are no escorts to defend.<br/>

I have noticed that my CV commanders are very stupid ...

Howdy,

Does anybody remember the details of the hurricane that damaged Halsey's carrier fleet? I only remember the vague outline of the event. IIRC, several carriers were damaged quite seriously.

<t>I guess I should have waited, maybe. I moved both the Lex and the F4F-3s to Noumea. The squad did not upgrade, so no merger there. However, the Hornet arrived with 57 fighter pilots. I sent both the Lex and Hornet to sea for an emergency engagement. The Hornet happend to share her pilots with the ...
