RE: Check the Front Page!

This is just someones hobby, right? It will never be perfect. Look at the chages/mods to WIP. Quit diddling and get it on the street.

On the top there is a scenic etching of jungle and ocean with the inscription Port Moresby 1942-1943. The side has a single word ZERO etched into it. The back Says T.G. Brown 374TH Service Squadron. Dad told me it was made from the cowling ...

ASW for Convoys

<t>Drongo has it right. Use your AC for ASW patrol. SBD's make good sub killers and so do the PB4Ys. Use pairs of depthe charge equiped DDs to go after sub contacts. <br/>
<br/>
80% of my conyoys are unescorted. I do use contact info from ASW patrol AC to reroute convoys around known sub contacts ...

B-25 Skip Bombers

I just ran a couple of turns and eradicated 4 transports with about 20 - B25js rolling in at 100 ft. Forgot to save the AAR report. The crews were all experienced, had high moral, and low fatigue.:p

History and Fog of war

<t>My father threw Samuel Elliot Morrison's volume describing the Bismark sea battle at me when I quoted Morrisons account of how many ships the 5th AF sunk . Dad's point being Mr. Morrison wasn't there and he was. <br/>
IJN SHOHO is listed as sunk on 5/8/42 that is the day after the USN AAR ...

Skip Bombers

I have had pretty good success mixing my skip pombers (B-25Js and A-20Gs) operating at 100 ft with B-25Cs and A-20Bs operating at 1000 ft. Perhaps there is some algorthym in the AI about target visibility. Giver' a try.

Gost Ship RYUKAKU

Ref: "Japanese Warships of WWII", by A.J. Watts, ISBN 0-385-09189-3, printed 1966 - reprinted 1973.

As noted by others, ain't no RYUKAKU. Just like there wasn't any US Carrier Shangri La.

AC Altitudes

Keep the heavies (B-24s, B-17s) above 10,000 to take advantage of the Norden bombsights. B-25s especially the J's are effective at 100 feet for skip-bombing and straffing. By mixing strike altitudes and types it spreads the enemy CAP.

Agressive use of CV's

<t>Keep in mind that the idea at Coral Sea was not to sink IJN Carriers but to halt expansion into Papua and prevent the fall of Port Moresby. I try to keep the US carriers in range of the landing force at Milne Bay (Gili Gili ) and out of range of the IJN task forces. If they want to turn the ...

Sound track

If you have a fast enough machine you can play Victory at Sea Vol II on one CD drive while playing UV on the other. Very stimulating at O' dark thirty when you just gotta' play another turn.
