Re: The First Dance

I played this one last week as the Soviets vs. the AI and found it challenging. I played it on Custom setting with all Grognard settings except for automatic resupply I had on. I think you did a good job on this scenario.

Re: “Clarification Needed: Hold, Screen, and Assault Mechanics”

In Cold War, both Move Deliberate and Assault now have the same preparation delay (15 mins, under "normal" conditions), so the delay should not play a role in deciding on Move Deliberate versus Assault.

This is a change from Southern Storm, where Assault had a 30 mins preparation delay, and Move ...

The original question nor the discussion stated that, nor implied, that the game was broken. It works quite well.

Re: “Clarification Needed: Hold, Screen, and Assault Mechanics”

Consider this little trick:
Make a very short move, perhaps one hex, using Hasty.
in the same command list, do all the rest of the overall move using either Deliberate or Assault.

That might speed up the overall move. I don't think this little workaround is prevented yet, but I know the dev's ...

Re: Maybe a pet-peeve but... Why not the Dutch?

I would like us to do 50s, 60s, 70s stuff as well, but we have finite time and other items to work on. If we get more content, folks who want to chase those eras would speed up the process.
Oh, me too, especially the 70s. I have some ideas...

Re: “Clarification Needed: Hold, Screen, and Assault Mechanics”

My observation of Assault, and I'll caveat that much of this comes from playing Southern Storm and playtesting CW, is that when you give a unit this order, it sits in the start hex to get ready to move out longer than it does for Hasty and Deliberate moves. Is this supposed to be this way? Am not ...

Re: Scenario completion tracker

A couple of thoughts, you forgot the "grognard/custom" difficulty settings.
I think the scenario ratings in the spreadsheet are what the scenario is rated as and not what the player has set for game play.

This is a nice tracker BTW.

Re: Question- "Stance only"

The unit will use its current order state to determine whether it moves. So, holds will stay longer, and screens will move when threatened or when a visible enemy enters the standoff range.

Thanks, I had been wondering about this too. However, your explanation tells us what, but not how s, to ...

Re: The Great Lakes inaccessible to ships?

I just had this discussion on Steam about making inland water ways usable for ships. This can now be done by using the Custom Environmental Zone (CEZ) feature. I was able to create such a zone around the coast of Lake Huron and by making it "water." Ships will now follow plotted courses and ...

How do I add a port to the map? I tried to put in a port in Canada but I can't find a port when trying to add a unit.

Steam Version does not fully shut down

I play CMO on Steam and recently when I Exit the game Stean shows the "X Stop" box and hangs. If I click on the Stop box it changes to "Stopping" but nothing happens. If I shut down Steam normally and then bring it back up, it still shows CMO as "Stopping." The only way I can get it to fully shut ...

Extra Pixels in Menu text

I just installed the Steam versions of Final Blitzkrieg and Fortress Italy. On all the menu texts I get extra gray pixels either on the text or in between letters making them difficult to read. Also, in Fortress Italy, the map names over the towns and just have the text twice, white text and then ...

Re: A couple of questions re maps

I would like to make a map of the Pristina International Airport and surrounding area. Is there a way to import map data from say Google Earth or similar map programs to make the map.

I tried doing the above suggestion but simply don't know w how to do the elevations for starters.

Thanks for the answers. As to multiple monitors, the cursor does not stop at the edge of the monitor the game is on where the next monitor is set to be 'connected," the cursor just moves on to the next monitor and thus edge map scrolling does not work unless you precisely stop moving the mouse ...

Allow making the font larger. I have this running on a 50-inch TV and the font is hard to read at that scaling.

Have you increased the preferred UI scale in the settings launcher?

Some Quick Observations

I just downloaded the game and played the first tutorial to see how it plays and looks great.

It looks great and seems it will be a seamless transition from AB I.

Some things to consider: (if there is a way to do these, please let me know.

Re: What is your SOP setting?

I also don't have a standard sop setting. I've now gone to tuning the sop at every mission order. This does take longer but ensures that the units are more likely to do what I want. Too often I have found that units have a setting that does not fit the mission even if you set a standard one at the ...
