RE: Complete Carriers at War?

<t> Indeed.<br/> <br/> Ian used to run a famous military bookshop in Sydney, called Napoleons Bookshop. The story I have heard is that Roger Keating, a programmer in those days (late 70s/early 80s) used to come in the shop from time to time. Both of them also loved board wargames. When Ian heard abo...

RE: Complete Carriers at War?

<t> Hey all, any news on this game?[;)]<br/> <br/> I just thought I would pop over to the SSG Run5 forums...they seem to have gone down, though the site itself still sits there. It reminds me of an old Victorian building, its roof slowly sagging in, weeds growing in the gutters peeling wallpaper and...

RE: WEGO games, what happened to them?

<t> Lobster: I use various methods with my older games; Dosbox, Emulators for C64/Amiga (I have a Raspberry Pi 3 with full C64 and Amiga systems operating on them, with all of my games ready to roll at a moments notice, and many I never had back in the day), Virtual Machine with win98, and as my mai...

RE: WEGO games, what happened to them?

<t> I always like to own my games. I still have disks from the 90s that work (with a few work arounds due to operating system changes) even though the companies are long dead. Currently finishing off a campaign of Steel Panthers 1. Not bad considering SSI is long dead. Good Old Games, now that is an...

RE: Tiller Panzer Battles Demo

This is a treat. I never tried one of these games, but always enjoyed the West Front/East front/Rising sun games. Before I start the demo, how near are these games to those?

<t> Squad Leader, World in Flames, ETO/PTO...even such treats as 'The General' and SS Amerika. I still have so many wargames in their boxes it is ridiculous. Then I bought some from GMT a few years ago, and realised what the hell am I going to do with these? No opponents any more....<br/> <br/> And ...

WEGO games, what happened to them?

<t> Perhaps I am blind, but are there any decent WEGO wargames out these days? I know about the Panther games, but since these are sold elsewhere, in an odd form, I haven't really bothered with any of the new games. Am I missing any others?<br/> <br/> I still remember the old SSG games, like the Bat...

RE: windows 10 compatibility testing

<t> Zak, are you the Matrix support person? <br/> <br/> I really think SSG should be notified of their games becoming incredibly flaky with new operating systems and that they need to update their games to match. It becomes ridiculous when I can buy the SSI 5 star games from another online game sell...

RE: WiF Shipping Costs - an Examination

<t> If looking for tabletop wargames, alternate between the publisher sites and milsims in melbourne. Sometimes the cheapest option can be either, depending on sales, etc.<br/> <br/> Unfortunately, other companies like Avalanche press have shipping at horribly high rates, so whenever I want a new Pa...

RE: WiF Shipping Costs - an Examination

<t> I often buy products from GMT games who are in the US. Their slow shipping option, for large, boxed tabletop wargames (so would weigh quite a bit more than WIF computer edition) is $19.00 US up to 5lb...does take 4-8 weeks to get here, but honestly, who really cares? Even less so when you can do...

SGT Rock?

Never had that. We had stacks of 'Commando' comics, 'War Picture Library', 'Battle Picture Library', etc.

My fathers Biggles books were also part of the reading material for a young bloke.

Still intrigued by the game, but still a little steep for an army guy. I will wait until either a)price drops or b)WW2 is included in all its glory.

More army presence/usage would also be welcome, but I realise that it isn't called Modern Air/Naval/Land operations [;)]
