Thanks. I know it will have more fun to play with someone instead of AI. But I can not play many turns a day, and sometimes I can not play for a whole week. I am afraid I will disappoint my opponent.:)

<t>I have only played against AI, and often I find it easy to capture Townsillve even if AI is set to 'very hard'. So I wonder why if it is as easy in a PBEM game.<br/>

With about 10-11 CVs/CVLs/CVEs, I can usually sink all the 6US CVs before 1943 with 3 to 4 carriers survived. And within the ...

Japanese instant win

If Midway is assumed not happened, I find it is difficult to stop the Japanese from getting an instant win by capturing Townsillve in early 1943. The USN reinforcement come very late in the game. Any good strategies for USN? Thanks.

Play Balance

<t>Lots of guys find the US Airforces performing much better than expected. I wonder if it is because Matrix wants to make UV a more balanced game.<br/>

In the long scenarios, I find much less ships, planes and troops are assigned to USN before mid-1943. It seems the US cannot stop the Japs ...

I started a new game with version 2.11. So the problem is not caused by the difference in game versions.

It is in 2.11. They are American pilots, and would not attack the US even I make the order.

P-39 landing on Akagi

After sinking an American CV, I am so surprised to find some P-39s landed on my own CV. Strange enough.

Hey, I haven't played the game by email, but I wonder how long it will take to finish a game, if just 1 or 2 turns are played each day.

<t>Beating the AI is never as challenging as beating a human. I won't expect the AI to be as clever as the IBM Deep Blue. It is already good enough if it plays like an average opponent.<br/>

I have played scenario 17 as IJN many times, and usually I will try to capture Townsville to get an instant win.<br/>

I find the USN has 6 CVs before Jan 43, and as IJN, I usually get 6 CVs, and 2 CVLs. With experienced pilots and better planes in the early stage, I ...

Will the DDs take initiation to find enemy SSs? Even if they will, enemy SSs can still attack the damaged CVs.

If CVs are so important, I see no reason why only one DD is allowed to escort each damaged CV.

the lonely damaged CV

If I places more than one DD with my heavily damaged CV, the damaged CV will automatically form a TF with a single DD in the next turn. Why can't I use more DDs to escort my CV home?

No, Mogami. According to the manual, bombers first take AA fires at the initial altitude, then at the attacking altitude (1,000 fir DB, and 500 for TP). So If the initial altitude is high enough, bombers can escape from CAPs and the first round AA fires, right?

best flying altitude for bombers

Dive/Torpedo bombers will eventually fly at 1,000/500 ft to launch attacks. Should I set a bomber's inital altitude to its limit (say at 30,000 ft) in order to minimize the effect of AA fires?
