<r>Wel, it is a computer game. The aim will be to hide arcane rules, the computer will simply present choices.<br/>
<br/>
You will need to understand the effects of the rules but not in immense detail e.g. you will only lose a corps from choosing to retreat to a non-coastal sea zone once <E>:)</E ...

Sure, I will give you a game.

It will be my first pbm game.

Any house rules?

I think I would prefer the Soviets for my first game.

I'd like to try Possum 6.

Cheers

<t>I couldn't agree more, but the point you are missing is cost.<br/>
<br/>
I know exactly why board game ports are prevalent, it is because they are cheap. The design work is done and game balance and mechanisms are sorted out already.<br/>

Developing the computer games described above ...

ADG (the guys who did Empires in Arms) are working on a computer version of World in Flames. It is functioning, but no AI as yet.

It is a pretty good corps level game.

Maybe they and matrix games could hook up on this as well.

<r>Yes, good point <E>:D</E> <br/>
<br/>
The game is not totally historical. Players are offered similar choices to their historical counterparts but are not bound to make the same choice.<br/>
<br/>
Most of the game balance comes from the VP bidding system used to allocate countries. You can play ...

At this late stage probably not without serious risk of damaging the game :(

<t>I think you may have misunderstood the question.<br/>
<br/>
From memory, the original design provides for the European fleets of Britain to be represented, not the global fleet. You can build more ships to reinforce it, but cannot recall garrison fleets from the Indies and West Indies. Similarly ...

<t>Well, I have to say I disagree. Adding insufficiently developed home rules is a virtual gurantee of ending up with a dud.<br/>
<br/>
These choices were made in the original design (it started out at divisional level - what a nightmare!) for good reasons. I have played some of the variants ...
