What did you do to the music?!

<t> Seriously. I couldn't believe it when I launched the game. Now I have to get a CD drive just to get the old music files off my COW CD, and I'm not even sure if it's the same format. [:@]<br/>
<br/>
EDIT: Thank the heavenly powers, seems like the old music is still there. Just have to burn the ...

RE: Might get this, finally

The AI is pretty important - there's no way I'll be able to finish the grand campaign against a human, I think. It's good to hear that it works.

RE: Might get this, finally

<t> To be honest, my main beef with the interface is how little stuff the map tells you. Having to click on a hex (or hover over a tiny box) to figure out if it's occupied by an armored corps or a platoon of Malayan porters is, let's say, less than ideal. Otherwise, the amount of clicks you appear ...

Might get this, finally

<t> I've been thinking about finally getting AE. I actually have WitP on a dusty CD somewhere, but could never get into the campaign, mostly because it seemed to be filled with bugs and kept getting huge patches - I got it very early on.<br/>
<br/>
It seems, however, that, finally, the game is ...

RE: Roundup of Command Ops advantages?

<t> From the limited experience of Command Ops' demo (still deciding myself), I think the AI is MUCH better and more aggressive. I didn't play COTA that much, but that's only because I found that I could beat the AI senseless in every scenario I tried. I lost horribly in the demo.<br/>

RE: The Holy Grail of wargaming

<t> I think maybe calling it the Holy Grail of Anything is a bit premature. So far it's an IGoUGo, pretty standard operational wargame - which in fact has less features than the ancient WiR. I don't dispute it could be a great game, but it's not going to be a wargame to end all Eastern Front ...

RE: Why not free production?

<t> I meant - why not let the player change production priorities around, at least to some degree? I.e., more Panthers and less halftracks, or something along those lines. And while equipment flows could be restricted, why not let the player create units and have them fleshed out with whatever ...

Why not free production?

Well, the title sums it up. From what I understand, the production schedule is fixed. The question is, why?

You should try Hired Guns, a "Matrix Title" that IMO is pretty innovative. But you're right about the hype factor. It amazes me how unhyped Matrix remains about itself.

<r> Again, I contend that the "hardcore" part of the market is a lot more conservative in their preferences than the mainstream that could be tapped with the right marketing (and understandable game mechanics - which doesn't mean <I><s></s>stupid<e></e></I> game mechanics, by the way).<br ...
