RE: Who do you think were Napoleon's greatest Marshals?

<r> In line with Ericbabe's recommendation of Berthier, I would say Ney was very good at his job so long as his chief of staff was excellent, as it was until Jomini defected. Ney was also excellent in leading rear guard actions, where tenacity was required, although Napoleon preferred Lannes for the ...

<t> An odd comparison, since arguably the ANV under Lee operated on Napoleonic principles. And,as you note, the ANV never had their own version of the truly one-sided victories--very, very puzzling you consider this area a draw. Particularly as you note Wilderness and Spotsylvania as Confederate ...

<r> You might try <I><s></s>Swords Around a Throne<e></e></I> by John Elting. Historically, Prussia didn't surrender until after Koenigsburg had fallen as well, following the Russian loss at Friedland in June 1807.

RE: How do you keep the game from bogging down into WW1?

I think Berkut's problem has more to do with the scale of the game;&nbsp;at the scale depicted, there were very few times you saw&nbsp;a 'war of movement'. Most of the operational maneuver action in this game is abstracted into the combat sequence.

<t> The Confederates stationed sizeable forces there on occasion, mostly to counter Union moves into the area. A rail line from VA ran through the area, so it was considered important for that reason, as well as the perceived benefit the Union might receive from sympathizers that was already ...

RE: AAR RJH (Union) vs Joel Billings (Confederate) - Confederate POV

As notedin post #13 above, FOW is on--but Joel has been actively scouting with his cavalry. You will note if you read his postings that he doesn't know everything about those stacks, and that some of them have a significant amount of unspotted units.

RE: Hannibal:Rome vs Carthage

Yes, it has been out of print for ages. It is very difficult to find a reasonably priced copy. Because of its odd rights situation (Hasbro owns them, I believe, after the acquisition of Avalon Hill), it seems unlikely to be reprinted in the near future.

Testers are under NDA.

I don't think it is a stupid question, given the importance of the events.
