Thanks for the outporing of support, everyone. I was kinda looking for field manuals, but I had no idea what they were called <E>:)</E> . Anyways, hopefully that'll give me lots of stuff to read, and more things to look up. I've read a few of Keegan's books, a couple of Antony ...

Small Unit Tactics Research

<t>Hey everybody!<br/>
<br/>
It's been a while since I've posted around here, but I've been browsing for a little over six months. Anyways, I was wondering if you guys could give me a hand with something I'm trying to do some research on. <br/>

I'm doing a study of small unit tactics in World ...

<t>True, Vathailos. On the other hand, while that makes sense, it also might necessitate the removal of mine clearing capabilities from all sorts of other infantry. For instance, I doubt volksgrenadiers would be able to clear mines-some of the disabled vets drafted might have the skills, but on the ...

<t>I think i'd agree with viking-AT mines can be hidden deeper because they take more weight to set off and so can be buried a little deeper without fear, and the people laying them can work on camoflauge more after the mines are buried without fear of setting them off, though I am just basing this ...

Yeah, that makes much more sense. Especially the bit about rank...ah well, guess I should have settled for the company of PzG Mot Inf instead of ordinary riflemen. *shrug* 's all good.

<t>Thanks for all the help, guys.<br/>
<br/>
Yeah, I just remembered-only a quarter of the 'tanks' were M1A2's or whatever-the rest were M3 command cars, Mae Wests, etc.<br/>

As far as upgrading goes, I'll try not to do it much, but I am upgrading my GE rifle squads to SS ones asap. First so I ...

<r>Thanks for the info. I just tried the 232's (or 223 6-rads or whatever the heck they are) because I wanted something that could shoot at infantry instead of a kubelwagon, but it's back to the old standard for me. Meh the fact that these things are armed with 2 cm guns isn't bad-though for some ...

Stupid French and their hordes

<t>So I'm playing a campaign as the germans. I have a company of riflemen, w/ a platoon of engineers, a platoon of PzIIIe's, 4 plt's of 222's (to be upgraded to TD, Flame Tanks, StuG's, and Hvy Tanks), 2 plt's 231's (whoops forgot to see they can't carry recon teams), 2 plt's scouts, and 4 or so 81 ...

<r>Thanks for the answer, John. That makes much more sense (wish there were a way to change the game code though <E>:)</E> ). A moot point, anyways, because I started another campaign with a smaller force (like you, Irinami, many others suggested) and am working on practicing my smoking and recon ...

I still have a question about that units thing though. While I may be trying to play large campaigns (apparently 5k core force is big), I've seen people post about playing campaigns with 8k core forces ...

More Newb Questions

<r>First off, I love the game, but am not very good at it-I've been looking around the forums for a while but haven't yet posted anything (some errors with my first account <E>:(</E> ).<br/>
<br/>
So I have some questions. First, what scenarios/campaigns should I play to learn how to play better? I ...
